• Jhoan Duran blows save in eighth against A’s
Jhoan Duran blew a save while allowing two runs and also picked up a loss to the A’s on Friday.

Advice: Duran has lost three games in 2024, but this was technically his first blown save of the year. The right-hander came in during the eighth, but gave up a hit to Daz Cameron and then a two-run blast to Shea Langeliers. A disappointing effort for fantasy teams and the Twins, but Duran should still be counted on going forward. Rotoworld Today, 9:09 pm
  • Mason Miller needs just seven pitches for save
Mason Miller struck out one in a clean ninth to get a save against the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Miller “only” picked up one strikeout, but he also needed just seven pitches to get through the outing with five of those landing for strikes. The 25-year-old has locked down 14 saves for the A’s in 2024, and his ERA is a very healthy 2.08. The future is incredibly bright for Miller as long as he can stay on the field, but this version is pretty darn good, too. Rotoworld Today, 9:09 pm

  • Joey Estes pitches well in no-decision vs. Twins
Joey Estes gave up just two runs in six innings in a no-decision Friday against the Twins.

Advice: Estes gave up just five hits, with one of those being a solo homer to Royce Lewis. Everyone gives up homers to Lewis, so no same there. It was far from a dominant effort with just one strikeout, but effective nonetheless. His 5.53 ERA is much more indicative of his fantasy relevance in 2024 than this outing, if we’re speaking our truth. Rotoworld Today, 9:09 pm

  • Chris Paddack ineffective again against A’s
Chris Paddack picked up no decision Friday against the A’s after being charged for three runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Advice: Paddack gave up five hits, and he also had issues with control as seen in three walks and 52-of-82 pitches landing for strikes. I’s a better outing then Sunday’s struggles against the Athletics, but that’s not saying much since he gave up five runs in 2 1/3 innings in that start. The 28-year-old now has an unhealthy 5.28 ERA on the season, and he’ll try and get on track against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld Today, 9:08 pm

  • Lackluster start in Colorado
Herz allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits over 3.2 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out five during the win over the Rockies.

Advice: All four runs against Herz came on three homers as he stumbled in his first appearance at Coors Field. Entering Friday's start, he'd given up only one long ball through 14.1 innings to begin his MLB career. Herz fired a 13-strikeout quality start against Miami on June 15 but has totaled just 12 innings in his other three outings. He's sporting a 4.50 ERA with a strong 26:5 K:BB through 18 innings. Herz is currently in line for a start in San Diego next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 pm
  • Hammered for eight runs
Hudson (2-10) allowed eight runs on 11 hits and two walks over three-plus innings while taking a loss against the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Hudson kept Washington scoreless for two innings before an ugly five-run third inning. The Nationals piled on four more runs in the fourth, with three of them being charged to Hudson. He's lost three straight starts while posting a 7.20 ERA during that stretch, bumping his season ERA to 5.63 through 76.2 frames. Friday's performance was his shortest outing of the year and the most runs he's allowed in a start. Hudson's next matchup is expected to be on the road against the White Sox. • DJ Herz gives up three homers in start vs. Rockies
DJ Herz didn’t factor into the decision after allowing four runs — three earned — in 3 2/3 innings against the Rockies.

Advice: Herz was able to strike out five in the start, which is good. He also gave up seven hits with three of them homers, which is not. The left-hander was dominant against the Marlins with 13 punchouts Saturday, but while the swing-and-miss ability was still apparent, the lack of ideal command was as well. He’s a very risky starter against the Padres next week. Rotoworld Today, 8:41 pm
  • Dakota Hudson roughed up for eight runs
Dakota Hudson allowed eight runs in just three innings while picking up a loss to the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Not ideal. Hudson allowed 11 hits in the loss — two of those homers — and he didn’t pick up a single strikeout. The 29-year-old has mostly been effective in 2024, and he’s earned his 2-10 record over the first half of 2024. The only good news for Hudson going forward is his next start comes against the White Sox. Rotoworld Today, 8:41 pm

  • Recalled ahead of start
The Dodgers recalled Knack from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday.

Advice: Knack was named the starter for Friday's game against the Angels after Yoshinobu Yamamoto was placed on the injured list Sunday due to a right rotator cuff strain. Over 10 appearances in the minors this season, Knack has a 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 52:20 K:BB over 48.1 innings. His last start in the majors was against the Reds on May 19, when he allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out five over 4.2 innings. To make room for Knack, the Dodgers optioned right-hander J.P. Feyereisen to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Rotowire.com Today, 3:20 pm
