• Begins rehab assignment
Martinez (hand) went 0-for-3 with a strikeout Thursday in his first rehab game with the Arizona Complex League Guardians.

Advice: Martinez began the season on the injured list with a right foot contusion but then suffered a fractured hamate bone six weeks ago while on a rehab assignment for the foot injury. The 22-year-old will eventually move up to a higher affiliate and is likely to be optioned to Triple-A Columbus once he's deemed ready rather than be added to the Guardians' roster. • Big day on offense
Mateo went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Tigers while also drawing two walks.

Advice: Mateo walked and stole second in his opening at-bat before coming around to score Baltimore's first run of the game on an Adley Rutschman single. The second baseman then broke open a 2-2 game with a three-run shot in the fourth and went on to reach base four times in the contest. The home run was Mateo's third of the season and he's now hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 7-for-22 (.318) over that stretch with four RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases. • Guardians send Angel Martinez on rehab assignment
Guardians sent SS Angel Martinez (hand) on a rehab assignment to the Arizona Complex League.

Advice: After starting the season on the injured list with a foot contusion, Martinez later suffered a fractured hamate bone in his hand. The 22-year-old will start this rehab process with the Guardians’ rookie affiliate. Rotoworld Today, 5:40 am

  • Two extra-base hits in win
Kiner-Falefa went 2-for-4 with a triple and a solo homer in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

Advice: Kiner-Falefa jumped on the third pitch he saw from Jack Flaherty in the top of the third and launched it over the wall in left field to put the Blue Jays on the board. The outfielder would add a triple in his next at-bat, giving him back-to-back games with two hits after previously riding an 0-for-20 skid. The home run was his third of the season, though two of those have come over his last 11 games. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 am

  • Grabs first hits, steal of season
Wisely went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one stolen base in Thursday's 7-6 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Wisely's playing time has been sparse, but he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and one RBI over his first five major-league games of the season. He got the start at shortstop Thursday and delivered with a multi-hit effort, as well as his first steal of the campaign. The utility man hit .175 with a .498 OPS, two home runs and two steals over 131 plate appearances in the majors last year. Wisely can cover the middle infield and all three outfield spots, but it's unlikely he comes anywhere near steady playing time in 2024. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:12 pm

  • Logs three hits, steal in win
Schuemann went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.

Advice: Facing a four-run deficit in the bottom of the 11th inning, Schuemann sparked the Athletics' rally with an RBI double before scoring on Abraham Toro's single. Through 19 games in May, Schuemann is batting .317 (19-for-60) with five extra-base hits and six RBI. The 26-year-old is up to a .262/.344/.381 slash line with two home runs, three steals, nine RBI and 11 runs scored over 96 plate appearances. Schuemann should continue to start at shortstop, filling in for Darell Hernaiz (ankle), who is on the 60-day injured list and not eligible to return until July. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:13 pm

  • Records third steal
Albies went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Albies is hitting well, going 11-for-40 (.275) over his last 10 games, though he has just one extra-base hit, a double, in that span. The second baseman is slashing .269/.330/.388 with three home runs, three steals, 23 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 39 contests on the year. He's locked into a starting role, but the lack of counting stats is a small concern for a player that has hit 20-plus homers four times in the last six years. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:40 pm
  • Perez knocks in Tigers lone run Thursday
Wenceel Perez went 1-for-4 with an RBI against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: To say it was a quiet night for the Tigers offense would be an understatement. Detroit failed to record an extra-base hit on the night. Perez singled in the sixth inning to drive in Javier Baez and Carson Kelly was thrown out at home by Kevin Kiermaier on the same play. Perez has been the lone bright spot in the Tigers order recently. He’s hitting .295 with an .859 OPS and 14 RBI since his April call to the majors. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:34 pm

  • Four more hits in win
Arraez went 4-for-5 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Thursday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Reds.

Advice: Arraez has multiple hits in his last eight games, going 20-for-38 (.526) with three extra-base hits in that span. The infielder played at first base Thursday, swapping places with Jake Cronenworth on the right side of the infield. Arraez is up to a .341/.382/.422 slash line with one home run, 12 RBI, 31 runs scored and three stolen bases over 226 plate appearances. He sees a majority of the playing time at the keystone and should continue to thrive atop the order for a team that has little trouble putting the ball in play. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:51 pm
