      Rafael Devers went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs on Sunday night as the Red Sox triumphed over the Yankees.

      Advice: Devers delivered a sacrifice fly off of Marcus Stroman in the fourth inning that extended the Red Sox’ early lead to 4-1. He then added a valuable insurance run in the seventh with an RBI single that plated Jarren Duran to make it a 5-3 game. Devers then raced around to score on Connor Wong’s two-run triple. While Cano maintains a prominent role in the Orioles' bullpen, Craig Kimbrel has not allowed an earned run in over a month and maintains a strong hold on the closer role.       Kershaw (shoulder) will make a rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

      Advice: Kershaw came out well from a series of recent simulated games and is now set to take the final step toward a return from offseason shoulder surgery. The left-hander is said to be ahead of progress in his recovery, though he'll almost certainly need several rehab outings before he's ready to come off the 60-day injured list and make his season debut for the big club.       Jordan Montgomery looked sharp in Sunday’s victory over the White Sox, allowing just an unearned run on four hits over his five frames.

The lone tally against him came on an RBI groundout off the bat of Andrew Vaughn in the third inning — after a throwing error by Montgomery had allowed him to advance earlier in the inning. The lone run scored while Montgomery was on the mound came in the third inning, when Danny Mendick came around to score after reaching on a throwing error by Montgomery. Montgomery has had a rollercoaster 2024 season, surrendering three or fewer runs in seven of his 11 appearances but giving up six or more runs three times. The 26-year-old backstop remained on the ground for a few minutes afterwards, but ultimately was able to get up under his own power and was able to celebrate with his teammates.
