For good measure, the third baseman sweetened his stat line with a stolen base following a first-inning walk. Smith continues to shine at the hot corner for Texas, getting at least one hit in eight of his past nine games and batting .361 (13-for-36) with two homers, three doubles, four RBI, seven runs and two steals over that span.       Josh Smith went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBI, a stolen base, and a walk in the Rangers’ 9-1 win over the Tigers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Smith filled the stat sheet on Wednesday with an excellent day at the plate. He drew a walk in the first inning and stole second. Smith then led off the third with a solo homer off Joey Wentz. He doubled in the fifth and later drove in a run with a base hit in the sixth. The 26-year-old infielder is having a solid season at the plate, hitting .290/.377/.440 with four homers, 30 runs scored, 24 RBI, and four steals across 220 plate appearances.       Advice: Alexander was in the starting lineup for a fourth consecutive game -- all against left-handers -- and has hit safely in all four, going 8-for-16 with a stolen base, three RBI, two doubles and four runs. He's hit southpaws well, posting a .362/.422/.552 line against them. However, his stay in the majors could be ending soon.       Blaze Alexander went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored as the Diamondbacks bested the Giants 8-5 on Tuesday.

      Advice: Alexander was an afterthought in May, but he’s started four straight games to open June and gone 8-for-16 to push his average up to .296. The Diamondbacks clearly aren’t sold on him as an option at shortstop and they have Geraldo Perdomo coming back anyway, so Alexander has to hit to force Torey Lovullo to use him.       Advice: Smith hasn’t gotten enough credit for the job he’s done since Josh Jung went down. The 26-year-old is hitting .287/.377/.425 with 28 runs scored, 22 RBI, three home runs, and three steals in 57 games.       Advice: Since DJ LeMahieu returned from the injured list Tuesday to make his season debut, Cabrera has unsurprisingly been the odd man out of the New York lineup more often than not. He's made just two starts in the six games since LeMahieu's return and appears set to fill a utility role moving forward after holding down the fort at third base for much of the past two months.       Advice: Alexander made his first start in five days and had a hand in both runs scored in the sixth inning. After singling in a run, he stole second base, advanced to third on a wild pitch then scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Alexander's playing time dwindled during May -- a month in which he batted .184 with just 38 at-bats -- and he could be in danger of losing a roster spot once Geraldo Perdomo (knee) returns.
