    • Report: Padres pursuing trade for Garrett Crochet
The Athletic’s Dennis Lin and Ken Rosenthal report the Padres have shown strong interest in trade discussions for White Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet.

Advice: Here we go. No word on how close a potential deal may be, but it’s worth noting the two sides struck a deal a few months ago centered around White Sox ace Dylan Cease and appear to be circling another potential blockbuster. San Diego’s starting pitching depth took a serious hit last weekend with Yu Darvish (groin) and Joe Musgrove (elbow) landing on the injured list so it wouldn’t be shocking to see Padres general manager AJ Preller getting aggressive to fill the void. Crochet is in the midst of an unexpected breakout campaign with a stellar 3.49 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 93/15 K/BB ratio across 69 2/3 innings (13 starts). The former top prospect is still only 24 years old and figures to command an astronomical asking price in trade talks. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Drives in three Monday
Winker went 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Mets.

Advice: All three hits were singles, but it was still a productive night for Winker. His performance was marred by a caught stealing to end the second inning, however -- one of many mistakes by the Nats in what proved to be a one-run loss. The 30-year-old outfielder is batting .333 (11-for-33) over the last 10 games, but his only extra-base hit during that stretch is a double, and his homer drought currently stands at 13 games. • Homers in back-to-back games
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: This was Burleson's second straight game with a homer after he went 12 contests without one. The 25-year-old is up to seven homers through 51 contests in 2024, one long ball shy of matching his total from 107 games last year. He's added a reliable .271/.299/.429 slash line with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases over 177 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm

    • Strikes out six in no-decision
Skubal did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

Advice: Skubal surrendered a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien in the first inning but held the Rangers in check over the next five and left the mound in a 1-1 tie. Skubal allowed at least one baserunner in each inning, but he was still able to earn a quality start despite not having his best stuff. Through 12 starts, Skubal, who has not walked more than two batters in any game this season, has posted a sparkling 1.97 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 86:13 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a home matchup against the Brewers on Sunday. • Skubal strikes out six in no-decision Monday
Tarik Skubal allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Skubal gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six. He managed to earn a quality start for the ninth time in 12 starts this season. Skubal allowed a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien, but that was the only run the Rangers could muster against him. His ERA is now 1.97 as he continues to push for the AL Cy Young award. The 27-year-old left-hander will face the Brewers at home this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:29 pm

    • Jesse Winker drives in three runs in loss to Mets
Jesse Winker went 3-for-4 with three RBI on Monday in the Nationals’ loss to the Mets.

Advice: Winker reached base safely in four of his five plate appearances and wound up plating three runs courtesy of a pair of run-scoring singles and a bases-loaded free pass. The 30-year-old has really turned it on of late, batting .292/.386/.458 with two homers and five steals over his last 15 contests. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:09 pm

    • Lands on IL with groin strain
The Giants placed Snell on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left groin strain.

Advice: Snell had to depart Sunday's start versus the Yankees with the injury. He had been set to undergo an MRI, and while the results of that exam have yet to be revealed, the strain is significant enough to cost the left-hander at least a couple weeks of action. It's uncertain who will fill Snell's spot in the Giants' rotation, but one option is having Keaton Winn (forearm) skip a rehab start and return this week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

    • Giants place Blake Snell (groin) on 15-day IL
Giants placed LHP Blake Snell on the 15-day injured list with a strained left groin.

Advice: The Giants could give Mason Black another shot while Snell is out, but they’ll get by with what they have for now. They’re off Thursday, so that will help. Snell is 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA in six starts this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:05 pm

    • Nolan Jones (back) starts rehab assignment
Nolan Jones (back, knee) began a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old outfielder went 0-for-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in the contest. He should only need a few games to get his timing back before becoming an option to rejoin the Rockies’ lineup. Prior to landing on the injured list, Jones had struggled to a .170/.243/.277 slash line through his first 26 games with only one home run, seven RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
