• Gerrit Cole (elbow) to face hitters again Thursday
Gerrit Cole (elbow) will face hitters again on Thursday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: It’ll be the third time that Cole faces hitters as he continues ramping up his progression towards a potential June return to New York’s starting rotation. He’s presumably getting close to a minor league rehab start at some point in the near future, but the Yankees are clearly not rushing him back. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

  • Merrill Kelly (shoulder) set to resume throwing
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Merrill Kelly (shoulder) will start a throwing program next week.

Advice: Kelly has been out since late April due to a right shoulder strain and is going to require several weeks of bullpen sessions and rehab starts before he’s an option for Arizona again. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago
  • Sitting out nightcap
Ohtani isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Advice: The Dodgers were planning on giving Ohtani the evening off heading into Tuesday's twin bill, so he'll sit in the dugout after an 0-for-5 performance during Game 1. Will Smith will instead serve as Los Angeles' designated hitter, allowing Austin Barnes to start behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 4:16 pm

  • Nearing throwing program
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Kelly (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program next week, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: The right-hander has apparently been progressing well in his recovery from a right shoulder strain and is now on the cusp of resuming baseball work. Kelly will require some time to build his arm up before progressing to mound work and eventually a rehab assignment, so he shouldn't be expected to rejoin the Diamondbacks until sometime in July. • Tyler Glasnow strikes out eight in no-decision
Tyler Glasnow struck out eight and allowed two runs over seven innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Advice: Glasnow did his job in the front-end of Tuesday’s twin bill at Citi Field, limiting New York’s offense to just a third-inning homer by Francisco Lindor over seven strong frames of work. The hard-throwing 30-year-old righty notched at least eight punchouts for the seventh time in 12 starts this season, while also matching a season-high with four walks. He generated 15 swinging strikes and finished with a lackluster 27 percent CSW. It wasn’t his most dominant outing of his Dodgers debut, but he remains one of the few elite starters left healthy in the entire fantasy landscape. He’ll carry a stellar 3.04 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 95/21 K/BB ratio across 74 innings (12 starts) into a road tilt next Tuesday against his former team in Pittsburgh. Rotoworld Today, 3:57 pm

  • Tylor Megill spins seven-inning gem vs. Dodgers
Tylor Megill recorded nine strikeouts over seven scoreless innings on Tuesday in a no-decision against the Dodgers.

Advice: Megill brought some of his best stuff of the season in the opening contest of Tuesday’s doubleheader at Citi Field, limiting Los Angeles’ star-studded lineup to just three hits and one walk over seven sharp frames. He threw seven different pitches, and also touched 98.1 mph on his four-seam fastball, in the longest scoreless outing of his career. He’s allowed two earned runs or fewer with at least seven strikeouts in back-to-back starts since returning last week from the injured list and is in line for another home outing on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old righty is absolutely worthy of at least a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats moving forward. It’ll be fascinating to see if he can keep this up. Rotoworld Today, 3:56 pm

  • Facing pitch count in return
Eovaldi (groin) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list and will start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said the right-hander will be on an unspecified pitch count, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.

Advice: The 34-year-old suffered the groin strain during his May 2 start against Washington and will rejoin the big-league rotation without embarking on a rehab assignment. Eovaldi shouldn't be expected to pitch deep into Tuesday's contest given the workload limitations. Rotowire.com Today, 3:25 pm
  • Tuesday's game postponed
Skubal won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Pirates since the game has been postponed due to inclement weather, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The contest will be made up via a straight doubleheader Wednesday. The Tigers haven't officially announced their updated pitching plans, but Skubal should start one of those contests. Rotowire.com Today, 3:12 pm

  • Tuesday's start rained out
Jones and the Pirates will not play the Tigers on Tuesday due to inclement weather, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: Tuesday's contest will be made up during a doubleheader Wednesday, and Jones will presumably pitch one of the two games. The 22-year-old right-hander owns a 3.05 ERA and 0.97 WHIP on the year, though he's allowed three earned runs in six innings during both of his last two outings. Rotowire.com Today, 3:10 pm
