    • Playing catch Friday
Romano (elbow) threw from 90 feet Friday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Romano resumed his throwing program Monday and has already been stretched out to 90 feet. The 31-year-old has been brought along slowly since being placed on the 15-day IL with elbow inflammation and it's unclear if he'll require a rehab assignment at this point. Yimi Garcia has earned three saves since Romano went down and should continue to operate as Toronto's closer in Romano's absence. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:11 pm

    • Collects another win
Suarez (4-0) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the A's, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning and striking out one.

Advice: For the second straight game, Suarez benefited from a Padres walk-off homer, with Wednesday's coming off the bat of Jackson Merrill. The right-hander has been tagged for a run in only one of his 26 appearances since the beginning of April, and on the season Suarez sports a sparkling 0.61 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB through 29.1 innings. • Decreasing free passes
Adam allowed one hit and struck out two across a scoreless eighth inning Tuesday against the Cubs.

Advice: Adam began the season effectively but had an elevated walk rate after issuing 11 free passes across his first 23 innings. However, in his last five appearances, he's maintained a 6:0 K:BB while allowing only one earned run. Overall, Adam leads the team with 11 holds and has also chipped in three saves. • Secures 12th save
Alvarado gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 12th save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The southpaw needed 20 pitches (13 strikes) to put away the BoSox, as he bounced back from his second blown save of the season Sunday. Since getting tagged for five earned runs Opening Day, Alvarado has emerged as the Phillies' primary closer -- he's posted a 1.91 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB through 28.1 innings, and his 12 saves are already a new career high. • Snags win Tuesday
Suarez (3-0) pitched 1.1 perfect innings and earned the win Tuesday over the Athletics.

Advice: Suarez kept the game tied at 3-3 during his appearance, and Kyle Higashioka delivered a walk-off blast for the Padres in the ninth inning. This was just Suarez's third appearance in June, as save chances have been rare for the Padres recently -- the team lost six of eight games prior to the start of this week's series versus the Athletics. Suarez has been dominant in the closer role with a 0.64 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 27:6 K:BB over 28.1 innings while converting all 17 of his save chances and adding one hold. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:59 pm
    • José Alvarado secures 12th save of the season
José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure a save in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Advice: Alvarado did allow a one-out single and advanced the runner with a wild pitch, but he was never in any danger of blowing the lead. He now has 12 saves on the season as the main component of a Phillies closer group. He should remain a key piece of the bullpen throughout the season and is a good bet to lead the Phillies in saves even after the trade deadline. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:08 pm
    • Jordan Romano (elbow) resumes throwing
Jordan Romano resumed throwing the last two days and could get back on a mound later this week.

Advice: Romano, out with elbow inflammation, is eligible to come the IL on Saturday, but there are no plans to activate him then. If everything goes well, he could be back before the end of the month. Rotoworld Monday, 4:04 pm

    • Set to resume throwing program
Romano (elbow) is expected to resume throwing Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The right-hander will throw from flat ground and stretch out to 150 feet before beginning mound work. The Blue Jays are proceeding cautiously with their closer after he received an anti-inflammatory injection June 2, but Romano might still be able to avoid a rehab stint before being activated from the injured list. • Blows second save
Alvarado (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning against the Mets. He struck out two.

Advice: Alvarado entered the game with a one-run lead looking to preserve his 12th save, but things went downhill quickly. After allowing a walk and a single to start the inning, an infield single by Mark Vientos tied the game. Then with the bases loaded and one out, a hit-by-pitch followed by a passed ball allowed two more runners to score, saddling Alvarado with his second blown save and third loss of the season. Sunday's outing came on the heels of five consecutive scoreless appearances since his last blown save, which came May 24 in Colorado. The outing lifted Alvarado's ERA to 3.54 with a 1.14 WHIP and 31 strikeouts through 28 innings this season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 2:59 pm
