• Tommy Edman (wrist) shut down with ankle sprain
Tommy Edman, who is working his way back from wrist surgery, suffered a sprained ankle while taking grounders on Tuesday.

Advice: It sounds like this could be a real setback for Edman, but we’ll know more later. Edman appeared to be getting fairly close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

  • Sprains ankle
Edman (wrist) sprained his ankle while fielding grounders Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: It's not viewed as a major setback, but it's not ideal after Edman had finally been making some real progress with his surgically repaired right wrist. The hope has been that Edman would be ready for a rehab assignment soon, and while that still could be the case, this could delay him a few days. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Rangers activate Justin Foscue, send him to AAA
Rangers activated INF Justin Foscue from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue played in just two games for the Rangers in April before suffering an oblique strain. There’s no room for him on the roster now, but if he excels in Triple-A, perhaps he’ll get a look at DH or maybe even first base later. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

  • Activated and optioned
The Rangers activated Foscue (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Advice: Foscue is fully recovered from the oblique strain that had kept him on the shelf since early April, but the Rangers will keep him at Round Rock, where he had been on a rehab assignment. The rookie infielder is 4-for-21 with one home run in seven games with Round Rock this season. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

  • Nick Loftin gets start at third base Wednesday
Nick Loftin is in the lineup as the Royals’ third baseman Wednesday against the Marlins.

Advice: Loftin was serving as the Royals’ starting second baseman until Monday, when Michael Massey’s return as a DH and CJ Alexander’s promotion resulted in Maikel Garcia moving to second and Loftin hitting the bench. Loftin is back out there today, but he’s playing Garcia’s old spot, with Garcia remaining at second. At this rate, it’s easy to imagine Loftin getting sent back to Triple-A when Massey is deemed ready to return to the field or when Adam Frazier comes off the IL, whichever happens first. • Mauricio Dubón sits after 15 straight starts
Mauricio Dubón is absent from the Astros lineup Wednesday for the first time since June 7.

Advice: Dubón is a fantastic utilityman, but an everyday first baseman or left fielder he’s not and that’s rather how the Astros have been treating him lately. He’s hit .250/.276/.361 in 77 plate appearances this month, and it’d be for the best if he plays less once Kyle Tucker rejoins the Houston outfield. With Dubón sitting, Jon Singleton is making his first start since Friday. Rotoworld Today, 8:29 am

  • Nabs fourth steal
McNeil went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Yankees.

Advice: It's the 32-year-old's first multi-hit performance since June 9, with McNeil batting a brutal .088 (3-for-34) in between. The career .291 hitter is slashing just .216/.281/.298 on the season, and his lengthy slump -- as well as a hot start to Jose Iglesias' Mets tenure -- has put McNeil's playing time in a bit of jeopardy. He may need to string together a few more solid efforts to avoid losing his hold on even a strong-side platoon role at second base. Rotowire.com Today, 8:22 am

  • Sitting out Wednesday
Massey is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Marlins.

Advice: Massey started the first two games of the series at designated hitter upon his activation from the 10-day injured list, but he will begin the Wednesday afternoon tilt on the bench. Vinnie Pasquantino will serve as the Royals' DH on Wednesday while Salvador Perez gets a start at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

  • Swipes bag Tuesday
Lopez went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Advice: The 25-year-old infielder ripped a one-out double in the seventh inning and came around to score the Marlins' first run of the night in a 2-1 victory. Lopez has slowed down at the plate in June, slashing .203/.224/.250 with three doubles, two steals, four RBI and five runs in 18 games, but he continues to hold down the starting job at second base.
