• Daniel Hudson notches save Wednesday vs. Marlins
Daniel Hudson tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Marlins to record his second save of the season.

Advice: Hudson got the call to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and tossed a flawless frame on 12 pitches (10 strikes). It’s worth noting that both Blake Treinen and Alex Vesia might’ve been unavailable after pitching during Monday’s series opener. This was Hudson’s first outing since an ugly blown save last Friday against the Braves. It’ll presumably remain a closer by committee situation with Hudson, Treinen and Vesia splitting the ninth-inning duties until Evan Phillips is ready to return from the injured list at some point later this month. • Nursing back issue
Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Pressly is managing lower-back soreness but that it's "nothing worrisome right now," Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 35-year-old hasn't pitched since Friday due to the injury, and it's unclear if he'll be available for Wednesday's matchup with the Yankees. Pressly was able to play catch, so it doesn't appear as though he's in danger of needing a trip to the injured list. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • Falls apart in fifth inning
Soriano didn't factor in the decision Wednesday against the Pirates after he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander blanked Pittsburgh through four frames but was unable to get through the fifth as he surrendered all four runs on three hits and two walks. Soriano has a 1-4 record but has pitched well at times this season with two quality starts, though he's also given up four runs in three of his seven outings. He has a 4.32 ERA and 32:17 K:BB across 33.1 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Cardinals early next week. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • Mariners transfer Matt Brash to 60-day IL
Mariners transferred RHP Matt Brash to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 25-year-old right-hander, who has been shut down from throwing again due to renewed soreness in his elbow. This was done merely as a procedural move to free up a spot on the Mariners’ 40-man roster for Kirby Snead on Wednesday. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Mariners activate Eduard Bazardo from 15-day IL
Mariners activated RHP Eduard Bazardo from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander is ready to make his regular season debut after suffering a right rotator cuff strain late in spring training. He’ll replace the injured Tayler Saucedo in the Mariners’ bullpen. Expect him to be utilized in the middle innings. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago
  • Mariners place Tayler Saucedo (knee) on 15-day IL
Mariners placed RHP Tayler Saucedo on the 15-day injured list with a right knee hyperextension.

Advice: Saucedo sustained the injury as he slipped while covering first base during Tuesday’s outing against the Twins. It remains unclear how long he’ll be sidelined for. Kirby Snead was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma to take his place in the Mariners’ bullpen. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

  • Robert Suarez notches 12th save on Wednesday
Robert Suarez fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Cubs to notch his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Suarez got the call to guard a three-run lead in the final frame and neeeded just 11 pitches (seven strikes) to spin a flawless frame. The hard-throwing 33-year-old stopper has converted all 12 of his save opportunities this season to accompany a microscopic 0.55 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 15/4 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings (15 appearances). Simply put, he’s emerged as one of the best closers in baseball, which has made him one of the best values in offseason fantasy drafts. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago
  • Hayden Wesneski completes six in loss to Padres
Hayden Wesneski surrendered three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Wesneski coughed up an early run, but managed to hang in there against Padres counterpart Dylan Cease, who simply out-dueled him during Wednesday afternoon’s showdown at historic Wrigley Field. He tallied three strikeouts and handed out only one free pass. The 26-year-old former pitching prospect has excelled of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in three straight starts since joining Chicago’s starting rotation back on April 28. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.59 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 17/4 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (five appearances, three starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the Braves. He’s still too risky to trust in shallow mixed leagues, but he’s done enough to merit consideration in deeper formats. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

  • Ryan Pressly dealing with soreness in lower back
Astros’ manager Joe Espada told reporters on Wednesday that Ryan Pressly hasn’t pitched since Friday due to soreness in his lower back.

Advice: The 35-year-old hurler was able to play catch on Wednesday and felt alright afterwards, so the Astros remain optimistic that he won’t require a trip to the injured list. Pressly has played a key role in the overall failures of the Astros’ bullpen this season, posting a 5.27 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across his 13 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
