    Advice: Guardians starter Logan Allen was pulled in the third inning after allowing a tying run that knotted the game at 7-7. Avila was better in a longer relief appearance, but he was tagged with the loss due to a lack of offense from Cleveland after that point. Avila has pitched to a 6.11 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over 17.2 innings across eight appearances between Cleveland and San Diego this season. His ERA is 3.72 across four outings with the Guardians, but it's still possible Avila loses his place on the 26-man roster once Eli Morgan (shoulder) completes a rehab assignment.     Turnbull threw two innings of relief Tuesday against the Blue Jays, walking one but allowing no hits or runs.

    Advice: Turnbull was expected to pitch in some sort of piggyback setup with Cristopher Sanchez, but Tuesday's game didn't entirely fit that pattern. Sanchez threw seven innings of one-run ball before turning it over to Turnbull in the eighth with the Phillies up 8-1. Turnbull's outing therefore wound up looking much more like traditional low-leverage relief work than a proper piggybacking arrangement.     Sanchez (2-3) picked up the win Tuesday against Toronto, allowing one run on six hits in seven innings while striking out five and walking two.

    Advice: Sanchez was coming off a pair of starts in which he allowed nine runs (five earned) in eight innings with more walks (five) than strikeouts (four), so there was some speculation that he could lose his rotation spot or fall into a piggyback situation with Spencer Turnbull where only the latter would have a chance at wins. Instead, Sanchez bounced back with an excellent outing, throwing more than 6.0 innings for the first time this year. Turnbull did follow Sanchez out of the pen, throwing the final two innings, but if Tuesday's outing is any indication, Sanchez will continue to be used as a traditional starter as long as he pitches well enough to remain in the role. The right-hander has failed to last six innings in either of his last two outings after beginning the season with four straight quality starts, but he still sports a 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB through 35.1 innings.     Advice: The right-hander held a tough opponent in check, aside from a two-run shot by Jarred Kelenic in the third inning, but Crawford left the mound after 87 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 2-2. It was his fourth straight quality start and fifth of the season, and Crawford with take a 1.75 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next outing, which is schedule to come at home early next week against the Rays.     Baz (elbow/oblique) will start his second rehab outing with Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

    Advice: Kyle Tucker mashed a solo shot off Gil in the first inning, but the right-hander was unhittable after that despite some shaky control. He tossed 57 of 97 pitches for strikes before leaving the mound with his second straight quality start, the only two times in seven outings he's even lasted six innings.
