    Mariners placed INF Jorge Polanco on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring.

    Advice: Polanco aggravated the hamstring Sunday in his fifth appearance back after an eight-day absence due to the same injury. He’s hitting just .195/.293/.302 this season, so the break might be best for everyone. The Mariners will use Dylan Moore and Ryan Bliss at second base for now.     Mariners recalled INF-OF Sam Haggerty from Triple-A Tacoma and placed him on the 60-day injured list.

  • Davis Schneider goes deep in win over White Sox
    Davis Schneider slugged a two-run homer on Monday in the Blue Jays’ win over the White Sox.

    Advice: Schneider supplied a pair of insurance runs for Toronto with a ninth-inning blast off veteran reliever John Brebbia. It was his fifth round-tripper of the season and first time he’s left the yard since back on May 17.     Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI and one stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

    Advice: Freeman is still hitting just .217 on the year, but he's made big strides by batting .302 (13-for-43) over his last 12 contests. He's hit leadoff during that entire span, though his time atop the order will likely end when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns.   • Moves down order amid slump
    Julien went 0-for-2 in Sunday's loss to the Rangers. He was moved down to eighth in the lineup against a right-handed starter amid a 1-for-25 slump that has lowered his batting average to .199 and his OPS to .674.

    Advice: Julien also has just one walk over his last eight games as well as his struggles since the end of April have accelerated. He was hitting just .147 with a .418 OPS over his last 24 games before Sunday. Moving him down in the order from his usual leadoff spot against right-handed pitchers is a sign of his recent troubles. His slump has lasted long enough that he may start to lose playing time and it's not out of the question that he could face a trip to the minors to get him back on track .     Wisely went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Mets.

    Advice: Wisely has strung together three multi-hit efforts, going 7-for-11 in that span. The homer was his first extra-base hit of the campaign. That hot stretch has allowed Wisely to mount a challenge for playing time at shortstop, which has come at the expense of Marco Luciano.     Jorge Polanco will undergo an MRI exam on his injured left hamstring on Monday.

    Advice: Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters after Sunday’s game that the club will have a better idea on his availability after that exam. The Mariners would probably be best served putting him on the injured list this time around and giving him the proper time to heal, but that’s not the path that they took while allowing him to sit out most of last week on a day-to-day basis.     Advice: The usually soft-hitting Wisely smacked his first homer of the season and third of his career off Sean Manaea in this one. He expects to play sparingly with Marco Luciano getting the bulk of starts at shortstop since being called up by San Francisco, but has started back to back games with Luciano struggling some on defense.     Advice: Polanco was replaced by Josh Rojas with Rojas moving to third and Dylan Moore taking over at second. It’s been a recurring issue for Polanco in 2024 and throughout his career.
