• Lands on injured list
Wicks was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left forearm, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: The left-hander was scratched from Sunday's start in Boston due to the injury and will be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. Hayden Wesneski will start in his place and could remain in the rotation while Wicks is out. Rotowire.com 7 minutes ago

  • Cubs option Luke Little back to Triple-A Iowa
Cubs optioned LHP Luke Little to Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: The 23-year-old left-hander has struggled in 10 appearances out of the Cubs’ bullpen this season, posting a 7.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and an 8/7 K/BB ratio across nine innings. He’ll continue to hone his craft at the Triple-A level until he’s called upon once more. Richard Lovelady had his contract selected from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
  • Cubs recall Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa
Cubs recalled RHP Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler will get another opportunity to pitch out of the Cubs’ bullpen with Jordan Wicks (forearm) landing on the injured list on Sunday and Hayden Wesneski filling his spot in the rotation. Palencia has already appeared in three games for the Cubs this season, posting a 6.00 ERA, 2.17 WHIP and a 5/7 K/BB ratio over six innings while recording a save. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago
  • Cubs place Jordan Wicks (forearm) on 15-day IL
Cubs placed LHP Jordan Wicks on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 25, with a left forearm strain.

Advice: This seemed inevitable after Wicks was scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday due to tightness in his forearm. What remains unclear, is just how long he’ll be shelved for. Daniel Palencia was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move on Sunday to add an extra arm to the bullpen. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • DFA'd by Halos
The Angels designated Herget for assignment on Sunday.

Advice: Herget was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in early March and has now lost his place on the Angels' 40-man roster. The 30-year-old allowed five earned runs with a 4:6 K:BB over 9.1 innings with Salt Lake, and he could remain with the affiliate if he passes through waivers unclaimed. • On mend from batted ball to head
Junis (shoulder) resumed traveling with the Brewers and said Friday that he's feeling better after he was struck in the head by a batted ball during the batting practice in Pittsburgh on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Junis was sent to a Pittsburgh-area hospital for further evaluation after he was struck by a ball off the bat of Pirates infielder Alika Williams prior to Monday's series opener. Fortunately for Junis, an MRI and CT scan both returned clean, so his buildup program for his recovery from a right shoulder impingement should be relatively uninterrupted. Junis' lone appearance with Milwaukee prior to being shelved with the shoulder injury came as a starter, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy recently suggested that the right-hander might return from the IL in a relief role. • Slated to start Monday
Wilson is scheduled to start Monday's game against the Rays in Milwaukee, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Wilson had already started in two of his previous three appearances, but he served as more of a piggyback pitcher/opener than a traditional starter in both outings. However, after building up to 75 pitches and 4.1 innings in his most recent outing last Wednesday in Pittsburgh, Wilson shouldn't face many restrictions with his workload moving forward if the Brewers opt to keep him around in the rotation on a more permanent basis. Wade Miley's season-ending elbow injury creates a long-term hole in the Milwaukee rotation, though Jakob Junis (shoulder) and DL Hall (knee) will eventually return and could push Wilson back to the bullpen over time. • Receives Sunday off
McCutchen is Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Advice: McCutchen started the previous three games and will head to the bench after going 1-for-12 with two walks and five strikeouts. Edward Olivares will bat fifth as the designated hitter Sunday for the Pirates. Rotowire.com Today, 12:26 pm
  • Out of Sunday's lineup
Suwinski is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Suwinski will typically sit against left-handed pitchers, but he's on the bench Sunday as righty Keaton Winn takes the mound for San Francisco. Connor Joe will receive a start in right field and bat cleanup. Rotowire.com Today, 12:24 pm
