• Angels designate Amir Garrett for assignment
Angels designated LHP Amir Garrett for assignment.

Advice: The 32-year-old southpaw struggled in six appearances with the Halos, posting a 5.06 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and an 11/5 K/BB ratio over 5 1/3 innings. He still misses plenty of bats and throws from the left side, so once again there may be interest in his services on waivers. Rotoworld Today, 5:03 pm

  • Angels recall Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake
Angels recalled RHP Davis Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander has really struggled in seven starts at the Triple-A level this season, registering a 5.89 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and a 35/11 K/BB ratio across 36 2/3 innings. Amir Garrett was designated for assignment in a corresponding move on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 4:59 pm
  • Andrés Muñoz slams door on Royals on Wednesday
Andrés Muñoz slammed the door on the Royals on Wednesday afternoon, recording the final five outs to protect a two-run lead and earn his seventh save of the season.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander came on with runners at second and third with one out in the eighth inning and the Mariners leading 4-1. He did allow a run to score as Bobby Witt Jr. grounded out to second base, but then Muñoz punched out Vinnie Pasquantino to end the threat. He returned for the ninth where he allowed a leadoff double to Salvador Perez but nothing more — finishing the frame with a pair of strikeouts. He now holds a 1.47 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and a 24/7 K/BB ratio (18 1/3 innings) to go along with seven saves and a pair of wins on the season. Rotoworld Today, 4:54 pm
  • Bryan Woo fans five in victory over Royals
Bryan Woo was terrific in Wednesday’s victory over the Royals, striking out five batters over 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 24-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the afternoon. The lone tally against him came on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bobby Witt Jr. in the sixth inning. Woo generated 13 swings and misses on 79 pitches on the afternoon — eight of those on his heater which averaged 95.1 mph — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll look to build upon this strong performance when he toes the slab against the Yankees in New York on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 4:50 pm

  • Alec Marsh pitches well in loss to Mariners
Alec Marsh pitched well in a losing effort against the Mariners on Wednesday afternoon, surrendering two runs (one earned) on five hits over his five frames.

Advice: The right-hander punched out seven batters on the day while allowing only one base on balls. The Mariners scratched out an unearned run against him in the second inning, then Ty France got him for a solo homer in the fourth inning — but that was the extent of the damage done against him. Marsh got a whopping 16 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the day — nine of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll carry a stellar 2.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 31/10 K/BB ratio (37 innings) into a nice matchup against the Tigers in Kansas City on Tuesday. Rotoworld Today, 4:50 pm

  • Rejoining rotation Sunday or Monday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Megill (shoulder) will return from the 15-day injured list to start either Sunday in Miami or Monday in Cleveland, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Earlier in the week, Mendoza was non-committal regarding what type of role Megill might handle once activated, but the Mets cleared up their rotation logjam a bit Wednesday, when Jose Butto was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Joey Lucchesi was called up from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, but he could be sent back to the minors shortly thereafter in preparation for Megill's return to the rotation. Megill has performed well over his four minor-league rehab starts across stops with High-A Brooklyn, Double-A Binghamton and Syracuse, striking out 23 while allowing just one earned run on nine hits and one walk over 14 innings. • Back in majors
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old had a one-day stint in the majors in late April but didn't see game action. Daniel made three appearances for the Angels last season and posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:05 pm
  • Designated for assignment
The Angels designated Garrett for assignment Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Garrett will be pushed off the 40-man roster as Davis Daniel comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Garrett's place in the Angels' bullpen. Since joining the active roster in late April, the 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs while striking out 11 batters through 5.1 innings across six appearances. He's performed well in the minors this year and found a good amount of success last season with the Royals, so it's possible he draws interest from other teams on the waiver wire. • Michael Kopech hangs on Wednesday for fifth save
Michael Kopech tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Wednesday against the Nationals to record his fifth save of the season.

Advice: Kopech got the call to guard a two-run advantage in the final frame and managed to work around a pair of walks to secure Chicago’s much-needed victory. The 28-year-old former starter has handed out a few more free passes than fantasy managers would like to see, but he’s adjusted nicely to a high-leverage role this season, converting five of six save chances so far to accompany a solid 3.32 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 29/14 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings (19 appearances).
