    • Pete Fairbanks locked down Braves for save
Pete Fairbanks struck out two and walked one en route to his 10th save of the season on Sunday.

Advice: Fairbanks has been solid since returning from the IL last month with six saves in as many chances. It’s worth keeping an eye on his walk rate though as it’s inched up over 12%, the highest mark of his career. Rotoworld Today, 1:27 pm
    • Earns ninth save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Fairbanks walked Michael Busch with one out but induced a game-ending double play to secure the save. Since returning from an arm injury in mid-May, Fairbanks is 6-for-6 in save chances and has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings of work. On the season, he is 9-for-10 in save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB in 21 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:56 pm
    • Fairbanks picks up save against Cubs Thursday
Pete Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Fairbanks’ ninth of the season. He walked Michael Busch with one out before getting Nico Hoerner to ground into a double play to end the game. Fairbanks has now converted on six consecutive save opportunities. The last time he blew a save chance was April 17th. His ERA is now 3.00 on the season. Fairbanks already has four saves in June. • Cole Irvin strikes out eight in loss to Braves
Cole Irvin yielded four runs — three earned — in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Braves.

Advice: Irvin struck out a season-high eight and walked just one, but he again lacked hit luck today. He’s given up 25 hits over 17 2/3 innings in his last three starts. In his seven previous outings, he allowed a total of 26 hits in 36 innings. He’s still looking pretty solid regardless; he hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in an outing since Apr. 10. The loss today leaves him 6-3 with a 3.03 ERA. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:01 pm

    • Early woes mar outing
Irvin (6-3) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing four runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk over 5.2 innings against Atlanta. He struck out eight.

Advice: Irvin allowed hits to the first three batters in the game, including back-to-back doubles that immediately put the Orioles in a two-run hole. He was able to piece things together from there, allowing only one more earned run and striking out a season-high eight batters to keep the O's in the game. It's the third-straight game Irvin has allowed eight or more hits, though it's just the second time in his last 11 outings he's given up as many as three earned runs, raising his ERA to 3.03 through 68.1 innings. He's next slated to take the hill early next week when the Orioles travel to New York for a showdown against the first-place Yankees. Rotowire.com Thursday, 1:35 pm

    • Charged with loss
Hader (3-4) took the loss Sunday against the Angels after allowing two runs on two hits while striking out a batter over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Hader faced five total batters but only was able to record two outs. He entered with two outs in the eighth and got out of the frame. He then returned for the ninth to try and preserve a 7-7 tie and was unable to do so. Hader retired the first batter he faced but then allowed a base hit and a walk-off two-run homer to Logan O'Hoppe. It was Hader's first time allowing multiple runs in an outing since April 15 and his first loss since May 5. It's now been a full week since Hader's picked up his last save, and he sits at nine for the year after tallying 30-plus in each of his last four full seasons. He owns a 4.08 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 46:10 K:BB in 28.2 innings thus far. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:12 am

    • Nabs sixth win
Garrett (6-2) picked up the win Sunday over the Phillies, getting charged with one run on one hit and one walk over 1.2 innings of relief. He struck out two.

Advice: The right-hander entered the game with two outs in the seventh inning with the Mets down 4-3, making him the pitcher of record when New York erupted for three runs in the top of the ninth. Garrett did put two runners aboard before being lifted in the bottom of the frame and watched one of them come around to score, however. He's been tagged for runs in six of his last eight appearances, stumbling to a ghastly 11.74 ERA, 2.22 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB through 7.2 innings over that stretch, but Garrett will likely remain part of the team's high-leverage crew even after Edwin Diaz (shoulder) rejoins the bullpen. • Clean appearance in blowout loss
Fairbanks allowed one hit and struck out one across a scoreless inning Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Fairbanks last pitched Wednesday, so he entered the game in the ninth inning Sunday even with the Rays down by seven runs. Though it was a low-leverage situation, Fairbanks now hasn't allowed a run across 13 innings while maintaining a 13:2 K:BB since returning from the injured list May 11. Rotowire.com Monday, 6:28 am
    • Fans six in sixth win
Irvin (6-2) picked up the win Friday in a 6-3 victory over the Rays, giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out six without walking a battter.

Advice: Three straight singles in the sixth inning kept Irvin from recording his fifth quality start of the season, but the southpaw did tie his season high in strikeouts. He hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last 10 appearances (eight starts) dating back to April 15, posting a 1.88 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB through 52.2 innings over that stretch. Irvin will look to continue his breakout campaign in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against Atlanta. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:39 am
