    • Lands on injured list
Soriano was placed on the 15-day injured list with an abdomen infection Thursday.

Advice: Soriano was scratched from his start Monday and was expected to miss another turn through the rotation. It was originally anticipated that he would avoid the injured list, so it's unclear how long he may be sidelined. The move was retroactive to Monday, so Soriano will be eligible to return in early July. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

    • Angels put José Soriano (infection) on 15-day IL
Angels placed RHP José Soriano on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 17, with an abdominal infection.

Advice: So much for Angels manager Ron Washington’s proclamation that Soriano wouldn’t need a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old righty was scratched from a scheduled start earlier this week due to abdominal pain and will require a couple weeks off to deal with an abdominal infection. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It’s an unfortunate development for fantasy managers as he was set to face the Athletics early next week. • Stratton picks up fourth save Thursday
Chris Stratton picked up the save against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Stratton’s save was his fourth of the year. James McArthur is still in the late inning mix for the Royals, but he entered in the seventh inning of a tie game. McArthur has only one save this month, but has finished four games. Rotoworld Today, 3:50 pm
    • Blach allows 10 hits, five runs in loss Thursday
Ty Blach allowed five runs in four innings and took the loss against the Dodgers on Thursday.

Advice: Blach gave up 10 hits, walked one and struck out two. He continues to give up hits in bunches as he’s now allowed 35 hits over his last four starts. Blach’s ERA is up to 5.13 on the season and he remains off the fantasy radar. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros on the road next week.

    • Chris Flexen pitches well, but bullpen blows lead
Chris Flexen held the Astros to just one run over six innings, but didn’t factor in the decision Thursday.

Advice: Flexen pitched well, the White Sox bullpen did not. He scattered five hits while striking out six against three walks. The 29-year-old left the game with a 3-1 lead, but Chicago’s beleaguered relievers gave up the lead quickly after. Flexen gets the Dodgers next week. No thank you. Rotoworld Today, 2:04 pm

    • Twins designate Jay Jackson for assignment
Twins designated RHP Jay Jackson for assignment.

Advice: Jackson was tagged for three runs courtesy of a pair of homers during Thursday’s eventual loss to the Rays and has been removed from Minnesota’s 40-man roster, according to manager Rocco Baldelli after the contest. No word on the corresponding move yet. The 36-year-old journeyman reliever struggled to a bloated 7.52 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 29/22 K/BB ratio across 26 1/3 innings (20 appearances) this season for Minnesota. Rotoworld Today, 1:58 pm

    • Designated for assignment
The Twins designated Jackson for assignment Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: The move comes shortly after Jackson allowed three runs in an inning of work during Thursday's loss to the Rays. Jackson cleared waivers and accepted an outright assignment by the Twins last month, so he might wind up sticking around in the organization again. The club will announce a corresponding move prior to Friday's game in Oakland. Rotowire.com Today, 1:58 pm

    • Cardinals option Chris Roycroft to Triple-A
Cardinals optioned RHP Chris Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Roycroft has shuttled back-and-forth between the Cardinals’ bullpen and Triple-A Memphis over the last few months and will likely continue to do so for the rest of the year. The 26-year-old righty has pitched to a solid 3.07 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 13/8 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings (12 appearances) this season in the big leagues. Rotoworld Today, 1:32 pm
    • Simeon Woods Richardson limits Rays to two runs
Simeon Woods Richardson held the Rays to just two runs in his six innings of work, but he didn’t factor into the decision Thursday.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander struck out six while walking two and allowing four hits. Woods Richardson struggled in his previous outing against the A’s while allowing four runs in four innings, but this was much more like the version we’ve seen for the majority of 2024. Woods Richardson looks legit, and he’ll have another chance to do so against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm
