    • Cubs place Dansby Swanson (knee) on 10-day IL
Cubs placed INF Dansby Swanson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right knee sprain.

Advice: Swanson sat out of Wednesday’s contest due to soreness in his knee, and now he’ll be out for at least an additional week while recovering. Fortunately, the Cubs also got good news on the injury front on Friday with Seiya Suzuki being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Expect Nico Hoerner to slide over and cover shortstop while Swanson is shelved, leaving Miles Mastrobuoni to see increased action at second base. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Placed on 10-day IL
Swanson (right knee sprain) has been put on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Swanson missed Wednesday's game against the Padres with knee soreness stemming from an awkward slide that occurred on April 25 and the injury has now been deemed a right knee sprain. Nico Hoerner slotted in at shortstop Wednesday while Miles Mastrobuoni got the start at second -- a change that could be the norm while Swanson sits. The shortstop will first be eligible to return May 18 Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Sitting out with sore knee
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Swanson is absent from the lineup versus the Padres due to a right knee issue, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Counsell added that Swanson tweaked the knee on a slide during an April 25 contest against the Astros. He's considered day-to-day. The Cubs have a scheduled off day Thursday, so Swanson will look to return to action Friday in Pittsburgh. Nico Hoerner is sliding over to shortstop Wednesday, while Miles Mastrobuoni is getting a start at second base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:24 am

    • Dansby Swanson goes deep in victory over Brewers
Dansby Swanson walloped his fourth home run of the season on Sunday as the Cubs shut out the Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Advice: Swanson crushed a 399-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot off of Thyago Viera in the sixth inning, extending the Cubs’ lead to 4-0. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the afternoon. The 30-year-old infielder has had a rough go at the plate through the first month-plus of the 2024 campaign — slashing .220/.287/.358 to go along with four homers, 12 RBI and four stolen bases. • Oswaldo Cabrera powers Yankees past Orioles
Oswaldo Cabrera swatted a two-run homer off of Corbin Burnes on Wednesday night, powering the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Orioles in Baltimore.

Advice: Cabrera accounted for the only scoring for either team in the ballgame, poking a 352-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-out, two-run homer just over the wall in right field and just inside the foul pole to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. He also singled in the ballgame and swiped a base, finishing the night 2-for-3.
