• Back in lineup Friday
Goldschmidt is starting at first base and batting third in the lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Goldschmidt has been absent from the starting lineup in each of the Cardinals' last two games. The veteran first baseman has not registered a hit over his last six appearances, and he is slashing .195/.287/.263 with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate this season. Goldschmidt will look to get back on track against Brewers southpaw Robert Gasser. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
  • Sitting against lefty
Donovan isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Left-hander Robert Gasser will make his MLB debut Friday as Milwaukee's starting pitcher, meaning the left-handed bat of Donovan will watch the beginning of the game from the Cardinals' dugout. Lars Nootbaar, Mike Siani and Dylan Carlson will start across St. Louis' outfield while Donovan sits. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Idle for second straight
Kirillof is not in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the Blue Jays.

Advice: The 26-year-old will start from the dugout for the second straight matchup as Austin Martin will take left field versus Toronto lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Kiriloff has struggled lately to produce with his bat, going hitless in his last six games. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Josh Naylor absent from Guardians’ lineup Friday
Josh Naylor is absent from the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the White Sox.

Advice: It looks to be just a regular day of rest with tough left-hander Garrett Crochet toeing the slab for the White Sox on Friday night. David Fry will start in his place at first base and bat second for the Guardians while Bo Naylor slides up to the cleanup spot in the order. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

  • Continuing to ramp up
LeMahieu (foot) took batting practice on the Yankee Stadium field Wednesday and will travel with the club on its upcoming road trip to Tampa, per MLB.com.

Advice: In addition to swinging the bat, LeMahieu has also been fielding ground balls as he works his way back from the non-displaced right foot fracture he suffered March 16. By traveling with New York on its next road trip, he'll be able to take live at-bats and do infield work at the team's training complex, which happens to be in Tampa. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday that the club intends to ramp up LeMahieu's "baseball activities all week" and indicated that the veteran infielder could potentially start a minor-league rehab assignment soon thereafter. • Back in lineup
Canha (illness) is batting third as the Tigers' designated hitter for Friday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Canha has been dealing with an upper respiratory illness and missed a pair of games due to the issue. However, Canha seems to be on the mend, making his first appearance since May 6 and reclaiming his usual DH role. Rotowire.com Today, 11:50 am

  • Clubs 10th homer
Naylor went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Naylor has homered three times over his last eight games and now has 10 long balls on the year. The first baseman is batting .259 (7-for-27) with a 5:4 BB:K through eight contests in May. His career high in homers is 20 from the 2022 campaign, but he's on pace to shatter that mark in 2024. He's slashing .277/.364/.562 with 29 RBI, 20 runs scored and two stolen bases over 36 games this season. Rotowire.com Today, 9:50 am

  • Expected back Saturday
Carpenter (oblique) is on track to rejoin the Cardinals on Saturday in Milwaukee, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter will play in one final rehab game with Triple-A Memphis on Friday and, assuming all goes well, will then return to the big club. Out since early April with a right oblique strain, Carpenter has gone 4-for-17 with two homers in his first five rehab contests. Upon his activation, Carpenter could see some starts at designated hitter versus righties for an offense that's desperately looking for a spark. Rotowire.com Today, 9:08 am

  • Multi-hit effort in loss
Raley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in a loss to the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Raley provided the only meaningful offense for the Mariners in the 11-1 loss, driving in Mitch Haniger with a second-inning knock. Raley has picked it up nicely at the plate since late April, now having forged a .375 average and .923 OPS across the 26 plate appearances covering his last 10 games. However, his strikeout rate during that stretch is still a bloated 30.8 percent, an albatross on Raley's offensive profile that has been a constant presence throughout his time in the majors.
