He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeout and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts. Cano wound up walking Tyler Stephenson before striking out Christian Encarnacion-Strand and getting Jeimer Candelario to fly out to end the contest. It’s clear that Kimbrel isn’t in a good place right now, and could still be battling a lingering back issue, which opens the door for Cano to keep picking up save chances moving forward.     John Means recorded eight strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Reds.

    Advice: Means spun an absolute gem in his season debut following a five-week absence at the outset of the season due to a lingering elbow issue from last year, limiting Cincinnati’s stellar lineup to just three hits over seven frames. The 31-year-old southpaw induced 19 swinging strikes, including eight on his signature changeup alone, and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. It was an extremely encouraging outing and certainly inspires confidence in his ability to make an impact for fantasy managers moving forward. He’ll face the Diamondbacks at home next Saturday.     Advice: Abbott managed to hold Baltimore’s solid lineup to just a pair of solo homers, but it wasn’t enough as his Orioles counterpart John Means reeled off seven shutout frames to saddle him with a loss. He finished with a season-high eight strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass.     Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Saturday that Nelson (elbow) will return from the injured list to start Sunday against the Padres, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

    Advice: Lovullo had indicated previously that it was likely to be Nelson making the start, and now he's made it official. The right-hander had to go on the IL in mid-April after taking a comebacker off his pitching elbow, but he'll make a return Sunday after skipping a rehab assignment.
