    • Pummels three homers
Smith went 3-for-3 with three solo home runs, two walks and four total runs scored in Friday's 8-5 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Smith hit just two homers in June, so he's already off to a fantastic start in July. The catcher went to the opposite field for his first-inning blast before pulling his solo shots in the third and seventh innings. Smith is up to a .276/.349/.502 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 45 runs scored, 18 doubles and one triple over 73 contests this season. Rotowire.com 42 minutes ago

    • Will Smith homers three times in win over Brewers
Will Smith hit three homers to help the Dodgers to an 8-5 win over the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Three homers is a lot. Smith hit two of his dingers off Aaron Civale, and he took Bryan Hudson deep for his third roundtripper of the contest and the 14th of the season. On top of those homers, Smith also drew two walks. Smith continues to be among — of not the — best catchers in the sport and is slashing a strong .276/.349/.502 with 53 RBI. There’s plenty of reasons to believe he’ll be just as good or better in the second half of the year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:45 pm

    • Blows save Friday
Finnegan blew a save against the Cardinals on Friday, allowing two hits and one run in the ninth inning.

Advice: Finnegan was summoned to protect a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning but surrendered a solo home run to Willson Contreras. The closer had thrown five straight scoreless appearances but left a 2-2 fastball down the middle for his fourth blown save of the season. On the year, he has secured 23 saves with a 2.17 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB over 37.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:11 pm

    • Escapes with save
Doval allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Friday, striking out one and earning a save over Cleveland.

Advice: Doval put the first two batters of the inning on base but escaped the jam to close out the 4-2 win. It was his third straight save conversion, and he's now 17 for 20 in opportunities this season. Doval has not looked like his usual self, however, as his current ERA and WHIP of 4.04 and 1.54, respectively, are both career highs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:58 pm
    • Jason Foley miraculously escapes with save Friday
Jason Foley surrendered a pair of runs in the ninth inning on Friday night, but managed to miraculously escape with a one-run lead intact against the Reds to earn his 14th save of the season.

Advice: Foley came on with a three-run lead to protect in the ninth inning, but immediately made things interesting by allowing an infield single to Elly De La Cruz — who then stole second and took third on a balk. Spencer Steer smacked a one-out RBI single to make it a bit closer and Nick Martini followed with an RBI triple that put the tying run at third base with only one out. Tyler Stephenson then hit a ground ball to third, where Blake Dunn was cut down at the plate attempting to score. Foley then allowed a single to Noelvi Marte before finally getting Santiago Espinal to ground out to first to end it. Foley now sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 24/9 K/BB ratio over 30 1/3 innings on the season to go with 14 saves and a pair of victories. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
    • Kyle Finnegan blows save against Cardinals
Kyle Finnegan allowed one earned run on two hits in the ninth inning on Friday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Willson Contreras took Finnegan deep to tie this game in the ninth inning. He’s been remarkably consistent throughout the season, but the Nationals haven’t provided him with many save opportunities lately and he’s now blown two of his last four dating back to June 22nd. • Idle vs. southpaw
O'Hearn is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Athletics.

Advice: O'Hearn will retreat to the bench Friday with Oakland sending southpaw Hogan Harris to the mound. O'Hearn is coming off an 0-for-4 effort with two strikeouts in Thursday's 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but since June 1 he is slashing .326/.381/.516 with four home runs and 19 RBI over 95 at-bats. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter Friday and bat second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:16 pm

    • Back in action Friday
Bichette (forearm) will start at shortstop and bat second Friday against the Mariners.

Advice: Bichette was hit by a pitch during Wednesday's contest and had to sit out Thursday's game as a result, but he seems to be feeling well enough to play Friday. The 26-year-old has been having a down season at the plate, posting a career-worst .613 OPS in 308 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:57 pm

    • Steals base in loss
Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk and a steal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Padres.

Advice: Garcia stole his seventh bag of the season in the fourth inning, then was thrown out at home trying to score on Leody Taveras' single. Garcia, who stole 25 bases (on 31 attempts) in 2022, is an occasional base stealer these days. He was successful on nine of 10 attempts last year and on seven of nine thus far in 2024. Thursday's walk extended Garcia's on-base streak to 14 games, during he has logged a .350 OBP. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:15 am
