• Blake Treinen (lung) will be activated on Sunday
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Saturday that Blake Treinen (lung) will be activated from the injured list on Sunday.

Advice: Roberts also said that he won’t be easing Treinen back into action and that he won’t hesitate to use him in high-leverage situations from the get-go. The 35-year-old right-hander should provide a major boost to the back end of the Dodgers’ bullpen, but it’s unlikely that he takes too many save chances away from Evan Phillips. • David Bednar earns win with scoreless ninth
David Bednar tossed a scoreless inning with one strikeout to earn the win against the Rockies on Saturday.

Advice: Bender entered in the top of the ninth with the game scoreless. He tossed a clean frame, striking out one batter to send it tied to the bottom of the ninth. The Pirates would walk it off, giving Bednar the win. It a positive sign for the closer after giving up runs in each of his last three outings. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

  • Jared Jones strikes out ten over seven scoreless
Jared Jones tossed seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts in a no-decision against the Rockies on Saturday.

Advice: There were some concerns over Jones’ velocity his last time out. He looked just fine on Saturday, shutting down the Rockies over seven innings. He was back up to 97.6 mph on the fastball, generating 17 whiffs to strike out ten batters. Jones allowed just one baserunner on the day, a double by Elias Díaz in the fifth inning. The 22-year-old right-hander will take an outstanding 2.63 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and a 52/5 K/BB ratio across 41 innings into a start against the Cubs in Pittsburgh on Friday. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

  • Austin Gomber goes six scoreless against Pirates
Austin Gomber tossed six scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Gomber made his best start of the season on Saturday, holding the Pirates scoreless over six innings. He scattered four hits and two walks, striking out three batters. The 30-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 25/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings. He’s in line for a matchup against the Rangers in Colorado on Friday. • Battling back tightness
Leone was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to lower-back tightness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Leone entered the game in the eighth inning and was only able to get through one batter -- a five-pitch walk to Nolan Arenado -- before coming out of the game. The team officially labeled Leone as day-to-day, so his injury doesn't seem to be too severe, but the 32-year-old righty may take a few days off before pitching again. Rotowire.com 49 minutes ago
  • Cristian Javier (neck) throws 68 pitches in rehab start
Cristian Javier (neck) made his first minor league rehab start at Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits over 3 1/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 27-year-old right-hander walked a pair while striking out three batters in the contest. He threw 68 pitches in the game, 39 of those for strikes. There had been speculation that he would require just one rehab start before returning to the Astros’ rotation next week, we’ll see if that holds after how Saturday’s outing went. • Lance McCullers (elbow) begins mound work Saturday
Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow) threw off of a mound for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his right forearm and also remove a bone spur in his elbow.

Advice: The Astros are going to continue to take every precaution as they’re ramping him up, but the fact that he’s back on the bump is obviously an encouraging sign for the 30-year-old right-hander. Expect that he’ll repeat the process many times before he’s cleared to start facing live hitters. There’s still no clear timetable for a potential return to the big league rotation. • George Kirby undergoes precautionary MRI on knee
Mariners’ manager Scott Servais told reporters on Saturday that right-hander George Kirby underwent a precautionary MRI on his right knee.

Advice: Servais didn’t relay any results from that exam yet, but did note that he’s optimistic Kirby will be able to make his next start against the Twins on Wednesday in Minnesota. While it doesn’t sound like anything serious, the mere fact that he required an MRI has to be at least somewhat worrisome for fantasy managers. Be sure to monitor his status closely over the next couple of days. Rotoworld Today, 2:07 pm

  • Héctor Neris records sixth save against Brewers
Héctor Neris allowed one run in the ninth inning, holding on for the save against the Brewers on Saturday.

Advice: It hasn’t come easy for Neris, but he just keeps getting by in the ninth inning. He was summoned with a two-run lead against the Brewers and gave up a run on two hits and a walk before closing it out for his sixth save. Mark Letter Jr. tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts before handing it over to Neris. He’ll be someone to watch if Neris struggles to convert saves going forward.
