      Corbin Carroll went 3-for-5 with a double, a steal and two runs scored as the Diamondbacks edged the Padres 4-3 on Thursday.

      Advice: It’s just Carroll’s second three-hit game of the year. All three of Carroll’s hits were legit, leaving his bat on a line at 108, 106 and 99 mph. It’s definitely his most encouraging game in weeks and maybe of the entire season. At .201, he finished the game over the Mendoza Line for the first time since May 12.       Advice: Carroll's three-hit effort got his batting average over .200 for the first time since May 12. He's opened June 5-for-21 (.238) over six contests, and his steal Thursday was his first since May 25. The outfielder is slashing .201/.284/.291 with two home runs, 10 thefts, 20 RBI, 30 runs scored, seven doubles and four triples over 61 games in a disappointing second full campaign.       Advice: Carroll was moved down to the eighth in the order the last two games, but that is an adjustment against left-handers only. Last year's NL Rookie of the Year continues to struggle overall, slashing .192/.278/.279 through 259 plate appearances. There are indicators to explain his issues -- fewer barrels and an increase in pop-up rate jump out -- but he's retained good plate discipline and luck appears to be a factor.       Advice: Josh Lowe, Brandon Lowe and Ben Rortvedt are all starting for the Rays today, even though the Marlins are throwing a left-hander in Braxton Garrett. Factoring in big time there is that the Rays also faced left-handers on Sunday and Tuesday, had Monday off and have another day off tomorrow; they can’t have all of their lefties sitting around that long without playing. Josh Lowe is less likely to be treated as a true platoon guy than the Rays’ other left-handed hitters, assuming that he can stay healthy from here and resume producing like he did last season.       Robert (hip) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Cubs.

      Advice: Robert's blast gave the White Sox a lead in the seventh inning, but they couldn't make it stick. This was his first game in nearly two months after the oft-injured outfielder was sidelined by a Grade 2 hip flexor strain in early April. Despite the absence, he's already at three homers through eight games this season. Robert has the potential to make a noticeable impact in fantasy, but his managers will need to be mindful to check for his presence in the lineup, as he's not expected to be a full-time option immediately after such a lengthy absence. Given his injury history, it's likely wise for the White Sox to make sure he gets regular rest, though some of those days could see his bat stay in the lineup as the designated hitter if he's hitting too well to fully sit.       Luis Robert Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

      Advice: After watching his team’s bullpen give away a 5-1 lead in the sixth inning, Robert smacked a 463-foot homer to left-center to put the White Sox back on top 6-5. It was the third home run of the season for Robert, who was activated off the 10-day injured list earlier in the day after missing almost two months with a hip injury.
