    • Escapes jam for hold
Robertson allowed one hit, hit a batter and struck out three over a scoreless eighth inning Thursday, earning a hold in a 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Robertson put the first two batters he faced aboard, setting up a rematch with the top of the Dodgers' lineup after he had struck out Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman on Wednesday to preserve a Texas lead. Robertson proceeded to do the same exact thing Thursday. The veteran reliever has 14 holds this season to go with a 3.19 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 36.2 percent strikeout rate, his highest mark since 2017. • Forgettable night in return
Moore went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in his return from paternity leave during an extra-inning loss against the White Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Moore had sat out the previous two games while on leave, and he went down on strikes three times against masterful White Sox starter Garrett Crochet before also logging one final punchout when facing reliever Michael Kopech. Since hitting safely in back-to-back games May 25-26, Moore has been mired in a nightmarish slump, going 4-for-42 with a single extra-base hit (a double) and a 38.8 percent strikeout across his last 13 contests. • Records quality start in victory
Ryan (5-5) earned the win over Oakland on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Advice: Ryan surrendered a two-run homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but those were the only runs the A's managed against the righty hurler. Ryan finished with a stat line very similar to his previous outing, when he gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames versus Pittsburgh, though that performance came in a losing effort. The 28-year-old pitcher has four quality starts over his past five appearances and has posted a 2.73 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 33 frames during that span. Rotowire.com Today, 12:42 am

    • Ryan picks up fifth win against A’s Thursday
Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Twins’ 6-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Ryan gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. The win was his fifth of the year. Both of the runs for Oakland came on a Tyler Soderstrom two-run home run in the second inning. Ryan hung a splitter to Soderstrom, but it was basically the only mistake he made on the night. It was Ryan’s 10th quality start of the season. His ERA is now 3.24 on the year. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays at home next week.

    • Dylan Moore back from paternity list
Mariners reinstated INF/OF Dylan Moore from the paternity list.

Advice: Moore was gone for three days. He’ll resume playing pretty regularly between second, third and left, giving him some value in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:12 am

    • Returns from paternity leave
The Mariners reinstated Moore (personal) from the paternity list Thursday.

Advice: Moore has been away from the team since Monday to spend time with his family, and he will now return to the Mariners ahead of Thursday's series finale against the White Sox. The 31-year-old has slashed .160/.233/.200 with two RBI and five runs scored since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:00 am

    • Gets another Double-A rehab start
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Matz (back) will make the third start of his rehab assignment Sunday with Double-A Springfield, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: In his most recent outing Tuesday with Springfield, Matz surrendered five unearned runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over 1.2 innings. After Matz tossed 35 pitches Tuesday, Marmol said that the veteran lefty is in line to throw approximately 50 pitches Sunday. The Cardinals are aiming for Matz to build up to the 75-to-80-pitch mark before he returns from the 15-day injured list, so he'll presumably need at least one more rehab start after Sunday to get fully stretched out. • Steven Matz (back) slated for third rehab start
Steven Matz, who is returning from a lower back strain, will throw 50 pitches for Double-A Springfield on Sunday.

Advice: It’ll be Matz’s third rehab start. He also pitched for Springfield on Tuesday, allowing five unearned runs in 1 2/3 innings. That one probably sounds worse than it was; he gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:33 am

    • Impressively strikes out side
Robertson earned his 13th hold in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers. He struck out all three batters faced in the eighth inning.

Advice: The Rangers were nursing a 3-1 lead when Robertson entered to start the eighth, and the right-hander was impressive, striking out Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman (all swinging). The 39-year-old Robertson has a 3.30 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 30 innings as he continues to operate as the setup man to closer Kirby Yates. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:40 am
