• Back in action Tuesday
Candelario (shin) is starting at third base and batting eighth Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 30-year-old was scratched from Sunday's starting nine due to a left shin contusion but is good to go following Monday's team off day. Candelario's .634 OPS for the season remains unimpressive, but he's gone 6-for-18 with a double and a homer over his past five contests. Rotowire.com Today, 11:36 am

  • Draws fifth consecutive start
Harris will start at third base and bat ninth in Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: The righty-hitting Harris has now started in five consecutive games at third base since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday, with three coming against left-handed pitchers and two coming against righties. Tyler Nevin will find himself as the odd man out of the lineup Tuesday against Rangers righty Jose Urena, but Harris may need to string together more strong performances to ensure he remains more than a short-side platoon player moving forward. Harris turned some heads with a two-homer performance in his second major-league game Saturday, but he's otherwise gone 1-for-10 at the dish in his other three starts. • Resumes hitting
Diaz (calf) has resumed taking batting practice but is not yet running the bases, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The veteran began a light running program in mid-April, but as this latest report indicates, he hasn't progressed to carrying it out fully just yet. The fact Diaz is back to swinging a bat is certainly a positive, however, yet he appears to be at least a month away from his season debut given the expected length of the rehab assignment he'll require. • Taking seat Tuesday
Nevin is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: Nevin started the previous 14 games and posted an .858 OPS during that stretch, though he's now in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. Brett Harris is starting at third base Tuesday for the fifth straight game, which has resulted in Nevin seeing more action in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 10:29 am

  • Keeps raking in Monday's loss
Toro went 3-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Toro authored one of two multi-hit efforts for the Athletics on the night, accomplishing the feat for the fifth time in the last six games overall. Toro has also reached safely in nine of the last 10 contests, a stretch during which he boasts a stellar .455 average, 1.197 OPS and impressively modest 13.9 percent strikeout rate. • Beginning rehab assignment
Peraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday.

Advice: Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games. Peraza also isn't a given to immediately be added to the big-league roster, although the status of DJ LeMahieu (foot) will be a factor. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am

  • Starts in left field
Duran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.

Advice: Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264). Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 am

  • Goes yard again
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Ramirez provided the go-ahead run in the sixth inning, tagging Jack Flaherty for a solo homer. Ramirez has now generated a home run in back-to-back games but is still trying to dig his way out of a slump. In his last 10 appearances, Ramirez is 5-for-35 (.143) with five RBI, five runs scored and no multi-hit games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:17 pm

  • Nabs fourth steal
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Freeman opened May 1-for-12 across four contests, and his last multi-hit effort before Monday was April 19. The 24-year-old is slashing just .204/.301/.347 this season while adding three home runs, four steals, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and five doubles across 113 plate appearances. With Steven Kwan (hamstring) landing on the injured list Monday, Freeman should have more job security in center field while Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Will Brennan combine to fill the corner outfield spots.
