• Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Brash underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Advice: Brash injured his right elbow during spring training and was pulled off his throwing program after suffering a setback in late April. He will now be held out for the remainder of the year as a result of his procedure, but the Mariners are hopeful he will return in early June next season. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Shifting to bullpen
Thomas Harding of MLB.comRockies manager Bud Black said Friday that Lambert will be moving out of the rotation to the bullpen, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lambert has started in three games for the Rockies this season, giving up at least four runs in each of them. In his last outing against the Cubs on Thursday, Lambert allowed seven runs on nine hits while striking out two over three innings. The right-hander has a 7.61 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over 23.2 innings this season. Southpaw Ty Blach has one start on the season and he could serve as a spot starter for Colorado moving forward with Lambert moving to the bullpen. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Matt Brash undergoes successful Tommy John surgery
Matt Brash underwent successful Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday.

Advice: Brash had hit UCL repaired and had the brace procedure done, and the Mariners’ expectation is that he’ll be ready to return to a big league mound in June of 2025. That timeline seems a bit optimistic and will require no setbacks along the way, but we wish him the best of luck in his recovery. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago

  • Mariners designate Tyson Miller for assignment
Mariners designated RHP Tyson Miller for assignment.

Advice: The Mariners needed to free up a spot on their active roster for Bryan Woo’s (elbow) return on Friday night, and unfortunately Miller was the odd-man out this time. The 28-year-old right-hander posted a strong 3.09 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and a 12/1 K/BB ratio over 11 2/3 innings out of the M’s bullpen. Given the overall struggle that most teams experience with bullpen depth, it would be surprising if Miller didn’t garner some interest on waivers. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

  • Mariners activate Bryan Woo for Friday start
Mariners activated RHP Bryan Woo from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: As expected, the 24-year-old right-hander will rejoin the Mariners’ rotation on Friday night against the Athletics. Woo has been shelved since the end of March due to inflammation in his pitching elbow but looked sharp on his minor league rehab assignment. He shouldn’t have any workload restrictions in his season debut on Friday night. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Resumes throwing
Musgrove (elbow) played catch Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Friday marks the first time Musgrove has played catch since he landed on the injured list Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. The 31-year-old righty said everything looked good after receiving an MRI and still expects to return from the injured list when eligible next Friday. He currently owns a 6.37 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 41 innings this season. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • DFA'd by Seattle
The Mariners designated Miller for assignment Friday.

Advice: The move corresponds with right-hander Bryan Woo (elbow) being activated from the 15-day IL. Since having his contract selected from Triple-A Tacoma on April 8, Miller has appeared in nine games for the Mariners, posting a 3.09 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB over 11.2 frames. He should draw interest from teams looking to add a right-hander to the bullpen. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • Nearing throwing program
Manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Williams (back) is scheduled to begin playing catch within the next two weeks, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Williams will be looked at by a doctor within the next few days, which will help determine how far away he is from beginning a throwing program. Though he seems to be trending in the right direction, the 29-year-old closer is still not expected back until around the All-Star break. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • On verge of rehab assignment
Middleton (forearm) through off the mound again Friday and is set for a rehab assignment next week, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Middleton is on the cusp of a rehab assignment according to manager Oli Marmol, who explained that the reliever will report to either Double-A Springfield or Triple-A Memphis for his assignment this upcoming week. The right-hander is eligible to return from the 15-day injured list May 17 and he appears to be on track to return from his forearm injury on or close to that date. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago
