• Robbie Ray to pitch in ACL game next week
Robbie Ray (elbow) is scheduled to pitch in an Arizona Complex League game at some point next week as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Advice: Ray continues to make strides toward a return to the Giants’ rotation. He’s going to wind up needing several minor league rehab starts after he’s finished with his work in the Arizona Complex League before he’s ready to return. As long as he avoids any setbacks along the way, he could be ready to make his Giants’ debut before the All-Star break. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago

  • Dodgers designate Elieser Hernandez for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Elieser Hernandez for assignment.

Advice: The Dodgers needed to clear a spot on the active roster for Evan Phillips’ return on Friday night and unfortunately Hernandez was the odd-man out this time around. The 29-year-old hurler has posted an 8.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 6/3 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings for the Dodgers this season. It’s likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra pitching depth for the Dodgers at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago
  • Nick Ahmed starting rehab assignment on Saturday
Nick Ahmed (wrist) will begin his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday.

Advice: Ahmed has been sidelined since April 27 when he was struck on the wrist by a 108-mph line drive. Marco Luciano had been functioning as the team’s regular shortstop in his absence, but he landed on the injured list himself on Friday, so the team is now rolling with a combination of Brett Wisely and Casey Schmitt until Ahmed is ready to return. He should only need a couple of rehab games before he’s ready. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

  • Starting Friday
Brooks is starting at first base and batting ninth in Friday's series opener against the Yankees.

Advice: Brooks will make his second major-league start since being selected from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday. He's gone 0-for-3 across his two outings with the Giants, and he'll look for his first hit in the majors Friday against Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman. Rotowire.com 59 minutes ago

  • Resting Friday
LeMahieu is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Advice: After being reinstated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday, LeMahieu played in all three games against the Angels, going 2-for-9 with three runs and three walks. He'll begin Friday's contest in the dugout, and Oswaldo Cabrera will start at third base and bat eighth against Giants right-hander Jordan Hicks. Rotowire.com Today, 4:51 pm

  • Beginning rehab assignment Friday
Conforto (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Conforto continues to work his way through a right hamstring strain that he sustained May 11 against the Reds. Before landing on the IL, Conforto was slashing .280/.331/.490 with seven home runs and 20 RBI over 154 plate appearances. If all goes well, he may only need a few rehab appearances before being activated. Rotowire.com Today, 4:32 pm

  • Set for surgery Tuesday
Lee (shoulder) will undergo surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The procedure will address the torn labrum in Lee's left shoulder, which he sustained May 12 against the Reds. Before the injury, Lee was slashing .262/.310/.331 with two home runs and eight RBI over 145 plate appearances. He should be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 pm

  • DFA'd by Dodgers
The Dodgers designated Hernandez for assignment Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Hernandez will be pushed off the Dodgers' roster in order to make room for Evan Phillips (hamstring), who was reinstated from the IL in a corresponding move. The 29-year-old Hernandez struggled heavily upon joining the big-league club May 15, allowing nine earned runs in just 9.2 innings of work. Despite his problems in the majors, other teams may be willing to take a chance on him based on his 2.83 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in Triple-A. Rotowire.com Today, 4:26 pm
  • Starting rehab assignment Saturday
Ahmed (wrist) will begin his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Ahmed landed on the injured list after spraining his left wrist against Atlanta on May 9. Prior to the injury, he was slashing .236/.274/.291 with 11 RBI. It's unclear how many rehab outings Ahmed will have, but a return to the big club would be timely after Marco Luciano was placed on the 10-day IL on Friday due to a right hamstring strain.
