• Matt Bowman elects to explore free agent market
Matt Bowman has elected free agency.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier in the week, but rather than accepting his outright assignment to Triple-A Reno, he has opted to explore the open market. Bowman has posted a 5.02 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 10/6 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings between the Twins and Diamondbacks this season. Rotoworld 21 minutes ago

  • Mark Vientos goes 3-for-5 in start
Mark Vientos went 3-for-5 with two RBI in a 10-5 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Vientos received a vote of confidence before this game with Brett Baty being sent down to the minor leagues. That gives Vientos full runway to be the Mets’ starting third baseman for the foreseeable future. He should firmly be on all fantasy radars with a .327/.377/.592 slash line in 49 at-bats this season. • Joc Pederson hits late three-run homer
Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored in a loss to the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Pederson’s ninth inning home run off Reed Garrett made this game much hairier than it probably should have been, but still wasn’t enough to fuel the Diamondback’s comeback. He’s had a great season to this point with a .952 OPS and seven home runs. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Luis Severino allows five runs, wins
Luis Severino pitched 5 ⅓ innings on Friday against the Diamondbacks and four earned runs with four strikeouts and one walk in a win.

Advice: Seeing the win is nice, but Severino wasn’t his best on Friday. His velocity was down a tick across the board as the Diamondbacks made plenty of hard contact. Yet, Severino didn’t allow an extra-base hit until the Eugenio Suárez home run that chased him from the game. Keep an eye on whether or not that velocity levels out in his next start. • Jordan Montgomery hit hard by Mets
Jordan Montgomery allowed six earned runs across four innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday. He struck out just four while walking three batters and giving up nine hits.

Advice: Montgomery’s poor season continued on Friday. The Diamondbacks gifted him a 3-0 lead before he took the mound and still managed to cough it up before the third inning. Once again, his sinker was hit incredibly hard - the Mets had an average exit velocity of 97 MPH off the pitch - and he wound up trashing it as the game went on in favor of more four-seam fastballs and curveballs. His ERA rose to 5.48 in the loss. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago
  • Jesús Sánchez homers, doubles twice for Marlins
Jesús Sánchez homered, doubled twice and walked Friday in leading the Marlins to an 8-2 defeat of the Rangers.

Advice: Finally. Sánchez increased his extra-base hit total by 50% tonight, going from six to nine. Statcast thinks he’s been one of the league’s unluckiest hitters and his hard-hit rate and strikeout rates are both better than his career norms, so odds are that his .657 OPS will continue to climb. Still, it’s going to be hard for him to be useful in mixed leagues while being platooned in a bad lineup. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Sixto Sánchez lifted with lead in fifth
Sixto Sánchez yielded two runs in four-plus innings Friday in a no-decision against the Rangers.

Advice: Sánchez, who went without a strikeout tonight, was pulled with a 4-1 lead after giving up a double and a single to start the fifth. Declan Cronin took over then and did a nice job in allowing only one of the runners to score. Sánchez has completed five innings just once seven starts for the Marlins, and he’s still looking for the first victory of his comeback. His ERA stands at 6.06. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • José Ureña pulled in third in loss to Marlins
José Ureña lasted just 2 1/3 innings and gave up four runs — two earned — in Friday’s loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Ureña’s original organization treated him badly tonight, with Nick Gordon hitting a two-run homer off him. Ureña has been decent in his rotation stint for the Rangers, but it’d certainly be best if the team was able to stick him into a middle-relief role in the not-too-distant future. • Jake Burger goes 3-for-5 in win over Rangers
Jake Burger went 3-for-5 with a couple of runs scored Friday in the win over the Rangers.

Advice: Burger came into the night with a hideous .240 OBP, but the Marlins still had him hitting second in their lineup. Perhaps he’s starting to pull out of his slump; he has seven hits in his last three games, raising his average from .189 to .218. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
