      Erick Fedde surrendered four runs over five innings with eight strikeouts in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

      Advice: Fedde gave up nine of the 23 hits the Brew Crew picked up Friday, and four of the six walks. The right-hander was able to at least pick up some punchouts, but that’s the end of the positives. Fedde was outstanding last week with 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball against Baltimore, but he’s just not good enough to rely on consistent results.       Dylan Cease allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday.

      Advice: Cease was pretty great to begin the year, posting a 2.19 ERA in his first eight starts, but this makes four straight outings that have missed the quality-start threshold.       Advice: Varsho's absence Friday shielded him from facing left-hander Bailey Falter, but the Blue Jays have now revealed they held the 27-year-old out due to illness rather than an unfavorable matchup.       Advice: Civale has simplified his approach of late. This was his seventh consecutive start throwing his cutter at least 30% of the time and the third time in four starts where he’s thrown it 40% of the time. The final results were solid here against one of the best offenses in baseball, but Civale induced just six swings and misses while the Orioles hit 10 balls hard.
