    Myers (0-2) took the loss to the Cubs on Saturday, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks over three innings. He struck out two batters.

    Advice: Nico Hoerner and Christopher Morel touched Myers up for homers, sending the right-hander to his second loss in three starts. Walks had not been an issue for Myers in his first two turns, as he walked only one batter in his first 10 innings, but he couldn't find the strike zone and/or didn't trust his stuff enough on this particular day to fill up the zone. While it was a step backward, Myers projects to remain in the rotation for the time being with DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still without definitive timetables.     Hedges went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run Saturday in a 7-1 victory versus the Angels.

    Advice: Hedges put the Guardians on the board in the second inning, plating two runs with a blast to left field. The long ball was the veteran catcher's first of the season and just his fourth hit overall through 31 plate appearances. Both Hedges and fellow backstop Bo Naylor (who played DH on Saturday) have struggled mightily in the early part of the campaign, though each went deep Saturday as the duo combined to drive in six of Cleveland's seven runs.     Isaac Paredes went 2-for-3 with an RBI on Saturday, lifting the Rays to a 3-1 win over the Mets.

    Advice: Paredes opened the scoring with a first-inning RBI single off Mets rookie starter Christian Scott. He reached base three times in the low-scoring affair and scored a pivotal insurance run in the eighth inning when José Caballero drew a bases-loaded free pass.   • Blows game open with grand slam
    Naylor went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 7-1 victory against the Angels.

    Advice: The contest was relatively close heading into the bottom of the sixth frame, as Cleveland held a narrow 3-1 lead. However, Angels starter Reid Detmers walked three batters in the inning, and Naylor made him pay for the wildness by crushing a two-out grand slam. The homer nearly doubled Naylor's season RBI total from five to nine, and it snapped a 15-game stretch without a long ball. Aside from Saturday's big blast, it's been a pretty rough season for the backstop, as he's slashing just .183/.280/.305 with a massive 38.7 percent strikeout rate through 93 plate appearances.   • Starling Marte has two hits, steals base in loss
    Starling Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and also stole a base on Saturday in the Mets’ loss to the Rays.

    Advice: Marte was one of the few bright spots for the Mets in this one as they managed just six hits combined against Rays starter Zack Littell and a trio of relievers. It’s still early, but the 35-year-old veteran outfielder has looked rejuvenated this season, batting .275/.313/.408 with 16 runs scored, four homers, 15 RBI and seven steals in 129 plate appearances.     Phil Maton hurled a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday against the Mets to net his first save of the season.

    Advice: Maton got the call on Saturday to protect a narrow two-run advantage after Jason Adam tossed a scoreless eighth inning in a tie ballgame. He issued a one-out walk to Harrison Bader, but managed to retire Brett Baty and pinch-hitter DJ Stewart to preserve the victory. It’ll be Adam picking up the majority of the save chances for Tampa Bay with Pete Fairbanks sidelined, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Maton continue to vulture the occasional opportunity.     Detmers (3-3) took the loss against Cleveland on Saturday, allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

    Advice: Detmers entered the sixth inning with a quality start still in sight, as he had allowed three runs to that point. However, the left-hander got himself into trouble by walking three batters in the frame, and Bo Naylor made the hurler pay with a grand slam to blow the game open. The seven runs, three homers and four free passes were all season-worst marks for Detmers, who was tagged with his third consecutive loss. The 24-year-old looked to be on his way to a breakout campaign by posting a 1.19 ERA and 30:7 K:BB over 22.2 innings across his first four starts, but he's stumbled since, allowing 16 earned runs and recording a 14:7 K:BB over 17.2 frames in his past three outings.     Advice: Merrifield didn't start the game but entered in the third inning for the injured Alec Bohm (hip) and wound up going deep off reliever Erik Miller later in the contest. Bohm is expected to be fine, but Merrifield could potentially see more action at second base in the coming weeks if the Phillies decide to shift Bryson Stott over to shortstop some days to cover for Trea Turner (hamstring).
