• Could make season debut Tuesday
Grissom (hamstring) will play back-to-back full rehab games at Triple-A Worcester on Saturday and Sunday and could be activated from the injured list Tuesday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Grissom has gone 5-for-22 with two doubles and two steals so far in seven rehab games as he works his way back from a hamstring injury. As long as he comes out of Saturday's and Sunday's contests with no issues, he could be ready for his Red Sox and season debut Tuesday against the Giants. Grissom is slated to be Boston's everyday shortstop, although it's possible he'll have extra off days mixed in initially. Rotowire.com 46 minutes ago

  • Masyn Winn getting a breather on Friday night
Masyn Winn is not in the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s tilt against the Mets.

Advice: The 22-year-old shortstop had started each of the team’s last nine games, so this looks to be just a regular day of rest for him. Winn is off to a terrific start this season, slashing a healthy .313/.385/.418 with zero homers, six RBI and four stolen bases (in five attempts) through 80 plate appearances in his first 23 games. Brandon Crawford will start in his place and bat eighth against Jose Butto and the Mets. Rotoworld 46 minutes ago

  • Bobby Witt Jr. plates three runs to lead Royals
Bobby Witt Jr. went 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI on Friday afternoon, propelling the Royals to an 8-0 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar opened the scoring in the third inning with a sacrifice fly off of Reese Olson. That would be the only run scored for either side until the Royals broke the game open with a seven-run ninth inning. Witt featured heavily in that frame, crushing a three-run triple off of Will Vest and scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Vinnie Pasquantino. He has lived up to his lofty fantasy draft status so far this season — slashing .306/.350/.565 with four homers, 14 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 27 games. Rotoworld Today, 1:26 pm
  • Steps out of lineup
Allen is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Allen started the previous eight games but will take a seat after going 5-for-22 with a solo home run during that stretch. Darell Hernaiz will step in at shortstop and bat seventh Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 1:00 pm

  • Receives rest day
Winn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Mets, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Winn started the previous nine games but will take a seat Friday after he posted a .208/.394/.292 slash line during that stretch. Brandon Crawford will receive a start at shortstop in the series opener at New York. Rotowire.com Today, 12:16 pm

  • Removed from 40-man roster
Short was designated for assignment by the Mets on Friday.

Advice: Short is clearing out as J.D. Martinez is added to the Mets' active roster. The 28-year-old utility player had received just 12 plate appearances this month with the big club, picking up one hit. It's possible he'll draw some interest from a team seeking defensive versatility. Rotowire.com Today, 11:41 am

  • Sent back to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Advice: The top prospect made his big-league debut April 10 in Boston to much fanfare, but he looked entirely overmatched at the plate in his first couple weeks of MLB action. Holliday went 2-for-34 with two walks, five runs and 18 strikeouts in 10 games, so the Orioles opted to return him to Norfolk. The 20-year-old could rejoin Baltimore for another look later in the season, but for now he'll head back to Triple-A, where he posted a 1.077 OPS in 56 plate appearances to start the year. • Orioles option Jackson Holliday to Triple-A
Orioles optioned Jackson Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: There was a ton of excitement for Baltimore’s top prospect to join the major league. However, the 20-year-old got off to a really cold start and the team is making the decision to send him back to the minors. Holliday had an excellent spring training, but that didn’t correlate to the regular season where he had just two hits in his 36 plate appearances in his 10 games with the Orioles. Baseball is a tough sport and sometimes hitting the reset button is the best option for a struggling young player. Rotoworld Today, 10:22 am
