• Mitchell Parker allows three runs in loss to Guardians
Mitchell Parker allowed three runs with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Guardians on Saturday.

Advice: Parker got into some trouble in the first inning, issuing two walks to load the bases before Kyle Manzardo brought two runners in to score on a single. José Ramirez would score a third run for the Guardians in the third inning on a wild pitch. Parker would pitch into the sixth without allowing another run, leaving with two outs and two runners on at 98 pitches. He struck out five on the day. The 24-year-old left-hander will take a 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 43/12 K/BB ratio across 50 innings into a home matchup against the Braves on Thursday. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago

  • Cooper Criswell holds Detroit to one run in win
Cooper Criswell allowed one run with five strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Tigers on Saturday.

Advice: A double and a base hit in the first inning put the Tigers on the board with one run. Criswell would settle in to give the Red Sox four more scoreless frames, scattering two more hits and a walk while striking out five batters. The 27-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.92 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 41/10 K/BB ratio across 43 2/3 innings. He’s in line for a start against the White Sox on Friday. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Reese Olson hit for five runs in loss to Red Sox
Reese Olson allowed five runs with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Olson surrendered a solo homer to Enmanuel Valdez in the second inning. Two base hits and a groundout would bring a second run in to score for Boston in the third. The Red Sox added a run in the fourth on a double and a sacrifice fly. Olson would pitch into the sixth before Valdez got to him again with a two-run blast. That would do it for the 24-year-old right-hander, ending his day with a 2.48 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 52/20 K/BB ratio across 61 2/3 innings. He’s set for a matchup against the Brewers in Detroit on Friday. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Faces hitters
Kershaw (shoulder) threw live batting practice before Saturday's game against the Rockies, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Saturday marks the first time Kershaw has faced live hitters after spending the past month throwing bullpen sessions, though he was only able to pitch one simulated inning. He will continue to build up his workload over his next several live BP sessions before heading out on a rehab assignment with one of the Dodgers' minor-league affiliates. Assuming the 36-year-old southpaw doesn't run into any setbacks, he appears in line to return to Los Angeles' rotation in approximately 4-to-6 weeks. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

  • Quinn Priester set to start for Pirates on Sunday
Pirates’ manager Derek Shelton confirmed on Saturday that right-hander Quinn Priester will start Sunday’s series finale against the Blue Jays.

Advice: As expected, he’ll take the place of the injured Martin Perez (groin) in the Bucs’ rotation. Priester has made five starts already for the Pirates this season, posting a 4.33 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 17/10 K/BB ratio over 27 frames. He’s not a recommended streaming option on Sunday. • Luis Ortiz snags first career save on Saturday
Luis Ortiz picked up the first save of his big league career on Saturday, working three scoreless innings to close out the Blue Jays.

Advice: Ortiz came on in the seventh with the Pirates holding a comfortable 6-1 lead, and all he had to do was steer the ship home. He allowed just one hit over his three scoreless frames while striking out three batters along the way. He’s not going to suddenly challenge David Bednar for save chances, but it’s probably a nice confidence boost for him to be able to close one out. Rotoworld Today, 3:06 pm

  • Promotion imminent
Priester will be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday to start against the Blue Jays, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Priester was sent to Triple-A on May 15 after posting a 4.33 ERA and 1.52 WHIP through his first five starts of the season. He's managed to bounce back since then, firing seven scoreless innings during his most recent Triple-A start, and he now figures to remain in the Pirates' rotation until Martin Perez (groin) is able to return from the injured list. • Julio Theran opts out of minors deal with Cubs
Julio Teheran has elected free agency.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler chose to exercise the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Cubs and is once again back on the open market. Teheran made eight brutal starts at Triple-A Iowa where he posted a cringe-inducing 8.82 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and a 37/11 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Today, 2:49 pm
  • Opts out of deal
Teheran opted out of his minor-league contract with the Cubs on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: After a brief stint with the Mets, Teheran elected free agency and signed a MiLB deal with the Cubs in April. He has since started eight games, logging an 8.82 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 32.2 innings. The 33-year-old righty will once again test his luck in the open market, though another minor-league deal is likely the most he can hope for. Rotowire.com Today, 2:41 pm
