    • Juan Soto has two hits, steals base in victory
Juan Soto went 2-for-4 with a stolen base on Wednesday in the Yankees’ win over the Rays.

Advice: Soto singled twice and picked up his fifth theft of the season in a low-scoring showdown at Tropicana Field. It was a notable development if only for the fact that it was New York’s first successful stolen base by any player on the roster since June 14. Rotoworld Today, 7:06 pm

    • Marcus Stroman limits Rays to one run on Wednesday
Marcus Stroman gave up one run over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Rays.

Advice: Stroman was in control early on, but wound up being lifted in the fifth inning after loading the bases with only one out in the frame. He allowed seven hits, struck out two and also handed out a pair of free passes. He’ll bring a respectable 3.51 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 78/47 K/BB ratio across 105 innings (19 starts) into the All-Star break. Rotoworld Today, 7:05 pm
    • Yordan Alvarez exits game with right hip tightness
Yordan Alvarez was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Marlins due to right hip tightness.

Advice: No word yet on the severity of the injury. It’s also unclear when the injury occurred, though it could have been while Alvarez slid into second base while picking up his fifth stolen base of the year in the first inning, or when he slid into home as he was cut down at the plate attempting to score on a ball off the bat of Yainer Diaz. He’ll presumably head for further evaluation and the Astros should have an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available. Rotoworld Today, 6:54 pm

    • Gavin Stone struggles in loss to Phillies
Gavin Stone struggled in a losing effort against the Phillies on Wednesday night, surrendering four runs on nine hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Stone struck out three batters on the evening and didn’t allow a base on balls. The game started out as poorly as it could for him, as Kyle Schwarber belted a leadoff homer. The Phillies then scratched out another run in the second inning. Stone then settled in and kept them off the board until the fifth, where he allowed an RBI single to Trea Turner and another run came home after Stone exited. The 25-year-old right-hander got six whiffs on 77 pitches in the game, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 19 percent. He wraps up his fist half with a 9-3 record, 3.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and a 76/28 K/BB ratio over 96 2/3 innings in 17 starts. Rotoworld Today, 6:46 pm

    • Battling hip tightness
Alvarez was removed from Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to right hip tightness, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Alvarez remained in the game after a trainer checked on him following his RBI single in the second inning, but the decision to pull him was made when his spot in the order came up in the fourth. The severity of his hip injury remains unknown, though it's possible he sits down another game or two after also missing Sunday's contest due to knee soreness. Rotowire.com Today, 6:25 pm

    • MiLB outing pushed back again
Garcia (elbow) did not appear in a game for Triple-A Buffalo as expected Wednesday due to neck stiffness, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: Garcia's rehab appearance has now been pushed back twice due to a neck issue that popped up Tuesday. He threw a side session instead to make up for not getting into a game and is now slated to pitch for Buffalo on Thursday, barring any further setbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 5:22 pm

    • Yimi Garcia (neck) has rehab appearance moved back
Yimi Garcia had his next minor league rehab appearance pushed back until Thursday due to stiffness in his neck.

Advice: It’s the second straight day that the 33-year-old hurler has had his appearance pushed back due to the minor neck issue. The Jays are hopeful that he’ll only need another appearance or two before he’s ready to rejoin the big-league bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 5:10 pm

    • Sitting again Wednesday
Cruz (hamstring) isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Cruz will be missing his second start in a row Wednesday after being pulled from Monday's game due to hamstring soreness. Jared Triolo will pick up another start at shortstop as a result, batting ninth. Alika Williams is no longer with the Pirates as a member of the taxi squad, per Alex Stumpf of MLB.com, which could indicate that Cruz will soon be available. Rotowire.com Today, 3:42 pm

    • Sent out to minors
The Dodgers optioned Miller to the minors Wednesday.

Advice: The team didn't specifically relay that Miller will be headed to Triple-A Oklahoma City, as the right-hander could instead be headed to the Dodgers' facility in Arizona to work on some mechanical adjustments. His demotion comes after he was lit up for nine earned runs in four innings in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies, bringing his ERA up to 9.87 over his four starts since he returned to the rotation June 19 following a two-plus-month stay on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers will need a replacement in the rotation for Miller in Sunday's game in Detroit, but the right-hander might be a candidate to rejoin the big club shortly after the All-Star break. The possibility exists, however, that the Dodgers will have Miller spend some extended time in the minors to iron out the kinks, as the team should get some reinforcements to its rotation after the break that may lessen the need to bring back the struggling right-hander. Tyler Glasnow (back) and Walker Buehler (hip) could both be ready to return from the IL immediately after the break, while Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could be ready to come off the 60-day IL by the end of July or the first week of August.
