    • Jameson Taillon delivers quality start in loss
Jameson Taillon lost to the Brewers after surrendering four runs — three earned — in six innings Friday.

Advice: Taillon managed to record a fourth straight quality start tonight, though only barely. Unfortunately, he’s won just one of those four outings and has no other victories since May 4. Still, he can’t complain overly much about being 4-4 with a 3.03 ERA when teammate Justin Steele is 0-3 with a 3.08 ERA. Rotoworld 2 minutes ago
    • Nick Pivetta tagged for five runs by Padres
Nick Pivetta surrendered five runs in four-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Padres.

Advice: Pivetta pitched four scoreless innings, striking out four, before giving up four straight hits and a walk to begin the fifth. He was pulled at that point, and the Padres ended up scoring nine times in the frame. Pivetta has allowed 15 earned runs over 19 1/3 innings in his last four starts, taking his season ERA from 3.40 to 4.52. We would say he’s droppable in mixed leagues at this point, but since he faces the Marlins in Miami next time out, it’s probably worth giving him one more chance. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

    • Austin Riley homers again
Austin Riley went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, walk, and two runs scored on Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Remember when Riley was having a bad season? Me neither. The homer was his ninth this season and fifth in two weeks as his OPS rose to .749. He and the Braves lineup have finally turned the corner. Rotoworld Today, 7:09 pm

    • Throws six scoreless innings in win
Eflin (4-5) earned the win against the Nationals on Friday, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out six over six scoreless innings.

Advice: Eflin threw 66 of 93 pitches for strikes and earned his first victory since May 13 and first quality start since May 7. The 30-year-old has now recorded at least six strikeouts over each of his past three outings and has only walked three batters in 28.1 June innings. On the season, Eflin owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 69:7 K:BB over 87.1 innings and lines up to face the Royals next week. Rotowire.com Today, 6:56 pm

    • Colton Cowser homers for Orioles
Colton Cowser went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Friday against the Rangers.

Advice: Cowser’s home run was smoked at 110 MPH and he hit fifth in this game, the highest he’s hit in Baltimore’s lineup since May 29th. His playing time was thought to be in danger with Heston Kjerstad’s promotion earlier this week. He and Kjerstad started three times in five games this week making this platoon a headache for managers in weekly leagues. Rotoworld Today, 6:43 pm

    • Zach Eflin hurls six scoreless in win over Nats
Zach Eflin was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Nationals, punching out six batters over six innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: Eflin scattered just four hits and one walk on the night. Only once did an opposing hitter advance past second base in the game, and that was Jacob Young who advanced to third on a ground ball after his leadoff double in the third inning and was then thrown out at home on a fielder’s choice. The 30-year-old right-hander generated 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches in the ballgame — five of those on his curveball — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. Eflin will tote a 3.92 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 69/7 K/BB ratio (87 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Royals in Kansas City. Rotoworld Today, 6:26 pm

    • Bryson Stott drives in two runs to lead Phillies
Bryson Stott drove in a pair of runs on Friday night, accounting for all of the Phillies’ offense in a 2-0 victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Stott used his wheels in the fifth inning, beating out a potential inning-ending double play ball to score Whit Merrifield with the game’s first run. He then tacked on a valuable insurance run in the eighth with a sacrifice fly. The 26-year-old infielder finished the night 0-for-3 and is now hitting .239/.332/.359 with five homers, 38 RBI and 20 stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 5:48 pm

    • Catching in AZL on Saturday
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Moreno (thumb) will catch five innings in an Arizona Complex League game Saturday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Moreno was placed on the injured list June 22 due to a sprained left thumb, but Lovullo said earlier in the week that he expects the catcher to return after the minimum 10 days. Barring any setbacks this weekend, Moreno will be eligible to return Tuesday for the beginning of the Diamondbacks' road series against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 4:26 pm

    • Padres transfer Joe Musgrove to 60-day IL
Padres transferred RHP Joe Musgrove to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 31-year-old hurler, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Austin Davis to join the bullpen on Friday. Musgrove continues to recover from a bone spur in his right elbow and has been throwing off of flat ground in recent days. Rotoworld Today, 1:15 pm
