    • Report: Angels unlikely to trade Taylor Ward
      According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, “the Angles likely will hang onto” Taylor Ward and starters Tyler Anderson and Griffin Canning at the trade deadline.

      Advice: All three players are still under team control through at least 2025 and are likely to remain with the Angels “unless they receive overwhelming offers.” Anderson and Canning staying put will keep their spots in a starting rotation secure but also keep their chances of wins low, while Ward staying in Los Angeles will also help guarantee everyday playing time but continue to see him hit in a weak lineup.       Advice: Jansen made quick work of the Yankee hitters, getting Ben Rice to ground out, Juan Soto to line out before sending Aaron Judge down on strikes to end the game. Father time is doing Jansen well this season, as he's converted 18 of his first 19 save chances while sporting a 2.01 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB in 31.1 innings.       Advice: The 36-year-old hurler picked up his 18th save of the season for his troubles. He made quick work of the Yankees in this one, getting Ben Rice on a ground ball to first, Juan Soto on a liner to left and Aaron Judge on a swinging third strike to end it.       Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs scored and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Brewers to a 9-2 rout of the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

      Advice: Yelich opened the scoring in Sunday’s contest with a 418-foot (107.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of rookie left-hander Justin Wrobleski in the fourth inning. He then singled and scored on a two-run knock by Blake Perkins in the eighth inning. Yelich also tacked on an RBI double in the ninth and scored on a double by Garrett Mitchell.       Ezequiel Tovar remained hitless for the month of July after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Royals on Sunday.

      Advice: Tovar was the clear choice to serve as the Rockies’ token All-Star a couple of weeks ago, but he’s been brutal of late, going 6-for-50 with one extra-base hit, one RBI, zero runs scored and a 20/0 K/BB in his last 12 games. It’s dropped his OPS from .808 to .734. Ryan McMahon might now be the best bet to be the Rockies’ All-Star, with Cal Quantrill and last year’s All-Star Game MVP Elias Díaz also in the mix.       Advice: Kim opened the bottom of the fifth with a leadoff double and eventually advanced to third before being left stranded. However, he came right back with hits in each of his next two trips to the plate, driving home Donovan Solano with a double in the eighth to tie the game at 4-4. It marked Kim's second three-hit performance this season and his 13th multi-hit game overall.     • Brandon Pfaadt (ankle) expected to make next start
      Brandon Pfaadt (ankle) is expected to make his next scheduled start.

      Advice: That according to Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo. Pfaadt left Saturday’s start against the Padres after being hit in the left ankle by a 98 mph comebacker. Lovullo did caution that the team needs to see how Pfaadt responds to the injury, however.       Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said after Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Padres that Pfaadt (ankle) expects to make his next start, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: Pfaadt was pulled midway through the fifth inning Saturday after he was struck in the left ankle by a 98-mile-per-hour comebacker. Fortunately for Pfaadt, X-rays returned negative and he was diagnosed with little more than a bruise, but the Diamondbacks want to check back in with the right-hander Sunday to make sure that his condition hasn't taken a turn for the worse.
