Tyler Anderson posts 10 strikeouts in loss to A’s
Tyler Anderson recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed three runs over seven innings on Saturday in a loss to the Athletics.
Advice: It’s pretty remarkable that Anderson wound up being saddled with a loss, despite authoring one of his strongest performances of the season, cobbling together his second double-digit strikeout effort of the year. He served up a costly three-run homer to Athletics slugger Shea Langeliers in the opening frame, but proceeded to shut out Oakland’s lineup the rest of the way through seven impressive frames. He generated 17 swinging strikes, including 10 on his changeup alone -- which he threw nearly half of the time in this outing -- and finished with a solid 33 percent CSW. The 34-year-old southpaw will bring a sparkling 2.96 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 99/49 K/BB ratio across 130 2/3 innings (21 starts) into a home outing on Friday against the Mets, assuming he isn’t moved at the impending trade deadline.
