• Productive in second game back
Davis went 2-for-4 with a run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Davis returned from a stint on the injured list in the series opener Friday and went 0-for-3, but he authored one of seven multi-hit efforts for the Athletics in Saturday's 20-4 win. The veteran hadn't recorded more than one knock in a game since April 3, and Saturday's production snapped an 0-for-13 skid. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Continues to impress
Lively (1-1) earned the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.

Advice: Lively got through four scoreless frames before the Angels posted a run in the fifth, but that was all the scoring the right-hander ended up allowing. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has yielded exactly one run in each of his past three starts, and he's given up a total of five earned runs across 21.2 innings on the season for a sterling ERA of 2.08. It's a bit difficult to imagine Lively continuing this level of success given that he entered the campaign with a 5.05 ERA across 208.2 career innings as a major-leaguer, and his Statcast numbers show that despite his strong start to the season, he has given up plenty of hard contact while rarely getting batters to chase. However, it's also worth noting that his strikeout numbers have tangibly risen -- Lively had a career 6.9 K/9 prior to this season but is at a 10.0 K/9 through four starts this year. • Added to roster
Atlanta selected Stephens' contract from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Advice: Stephens had posted a 3.86 ERA and 13:2 K:BB over 9.1 innings with Gwinnett this season. He pitched in five games for Atlanta last season, yielding four runs over 12 frames. Stephens will operate in low-leverage situations. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago
  • Framber Valdez hit hard in loss to Mariners
Framber Valdez coughed up five runs over 5 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Valdez didn’t quite have as much success in his second outing back from the injured list as the division-rival Mariners tagged him for a pair of homers, which was more than enough run support for Logan Gilbert, who tossed eight shutout innings on the other side. The 30-year-old southpaw will carry a serviceable 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (foour starts) into a road outing on Friday against the Tigers. • Homers in lopsided victory
Langeliers went 3-for-5 with a triple, a three-run home run and two additional runs scored in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers' 420-foot shot to left center with Kyle McCann and Lawrence Butler aboard in the eighth inning certainly wasn't necessary for the red-hot Athletics' victory, but it still had a bit of extra significance since it pushed Oakland's tally to 20 runs on the afternoon. Langeliers needed a prolific afternoon at the plate in the worst way, considering he'd come into the day with a .165/.222/.381 slash line. The three-bagger was also Langeliers' first of the season after he legged out four triples a year ago, and despite his significant struggles with batting average and on-base percentage, he's now knocked 11 of his 19 hits on the season for extra bases in the form of three doubles, Saturday's triple and seven homers. • Tom Murphy heading for MRI exam on knee
Tom Murphy will undergo an MRI exam on his left knee after suffering an injury during Saturday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: The 33-year-old backstop went to the ground in an attempt to block a wild pitch and felt something pop in his knee, prompting his removal from the game. Murphy told reporters after the game that his level of concern is very high. With Patrick Bailey (concussion) on the injured list, the Giants are now down to Blake Sabol on their catching depth chart and may need to seek help from outside of the organization. • Six scoreless in no-decision
Gomber allowed four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday. He struck out three.

Advice: Gomber matched zeros with rookie phenom Jared Jones through six in a game that wasn't decided until the bottom of the ninth when Jack Suwinski broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single. Gomber was far less dominant than Jones from a swing-and-miss standpoint with eight whiffs to Jones' 17. Still, it was a quality start, Gomber's second in seven turns this season. He lines up for a tough home start against the Rangers his next time out and should still be handled with extreme caution despite his quality surface stats to date (3.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). • Drives in four Saturday
Bleday went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Advice: Bleday was one of several Athletics hitters to put on a lights-out performance in the 20-4 rout, continuing a recent trend of improved play at the expense of the organization that drafted him in the first round of the First-Year Player Draft in 2019. Bleday has now left the yard on three occasions in the last four games, and the three-hit day tied a season best. Bleday also coaxed his OPS to an improving .775 with the prolific afternoon, and he's now laced 13 of his 28 hits on the campaign for extra bases. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Can't escape first inning
Winn (3-4) took the loss Saturday in Philadelphia, allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch over just two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: In fairness to Winn, the weather in Philadelphia for this one was nasty and the right-hander never seemed comfortable. Of course, Ranger Suarez pitched in the same conditions and posted a quality start. Still, Winn had been on a roll prior to this one, yielding exactly one run over six innings in each of his last three starts, so this could be just a little bump in the road. His next outing, unfortunately, is tentatively lined up to come at Coors Field. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago
