    Brett Wisely went 2-for-4 with a run scored from the leadoff spot in the Giants’ 5-1 defeat of the Cubs on Tuesday.

    Advice: Wisely’s second hit, a 403-foot double to left-center, would have been a homer in 29 of 30 ballparks and really a no-doubter in most of them. Oracle Park isn’t built that way, though.     Randy Rodríguez allowed one run and struck out five in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday in his start against the Cubs.

    Advice: This was definitely a bit longer than the Giants were expecting to go on one day of rest, but he made it hard to take him out; Rodríguez retired eight of nine batters before allowing a walk and an RBI single (after a stolen base) and getting pulled in the third.
