• Clubs homer Friday
Castro went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, a double and two total runs scored in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Castro logged his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five games, with the lone exception being Thursday when he started on the bench. Batting .290 (20-for-69) in June, Castro has been impressive for the Twins, and it hasn't been just an empty average. He has nine extra-base hits, eight RBI and 13 runs scored over 19 contests this month. For the season, he's posted a .272/.357/.444 slash line with six homers, 24 RBI, 43 runs scored, eight stolen bases and a career-high 19 doubles through 76 games. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

  • Jake Cronenworth has five-hit day in win over MIL
Jake Cronenworth went 5-for-5 with a homer, four runs scored and a stolen base in a 9-5 win over the Brewers on Friday.

Advice: Cronenworth and Manny Machado combined for nine hits on Friday, which is a large number. The infielder hit his 12th homer of the season in the sixth off Colin Rea. The five knocks for Cronenworth give him seven in the last two games, and he’s seen his average rise from .251 to .266. The 30-year-old has been streaky for the majority of his career, and he appears to be on the right side of that right now. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Luis Arraez golfs out homer in win over Brewers
Luis Arraez hit a two-run homer against the Brewers on Friday in a win for the Padres.

Advice: Arraez is not known for his power, but the 27-year-old was able to golf out a pitch down and in for his second homer of the season. The second baseman has hit .324 since being traded to San Diego with 16 RBI and three stolen bases in five attempts over 185 at-bats. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Ryan Bliss goes 3-for-3 versus Marlins
Ryan Bliss had half of the Mariners’ hits Friday, finishing 3-for-3 with an RBI against the Marlins.

Advice: Bliss’s .238/.319/.381 line through 49 plate appearances isn’t particularly remarkable, but that’s actually an above average OPS+ for a Seattle hitter in 2024. He’s going to have a case for sticking around after Jorge Polanco returns, which could happen this weekend. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

  • Headed for injured list
Toro suffered a strained hamstring Friday and will be placed on the injured list, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Toro was held out of the lineup earlier in the week with a shoulder issue and returned to the lineup Friday. He suffered an unrelated hamstring injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. Tyler Nevin and Aledmys Diaz figure to see increased playing time. Rotowire.com Today, 9:27 pm

  • Luis Garcia Jr. homers and steals base in victory
Luis Garcia Jr. homered and stole a base in a blowout win over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Garcia Jr. hit a three-run blast off a wildly ineffective Dakota Hudson in the third to give Washington a 5-0 lead. That’s his sixth homer of the season while the swipe puts him into double digits with 10 thus far in 2024. It’s been a solid — if unspectacular — first half thus far for Garcia Jr. Rotoworld Today, 8:42 pm
  • Marcus Semien plates three runs to lead Rangers
Marcus Semien delivered a bases-clearing three-run double in the sixth inning on Friday night, propelling the Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Royals.

Advice: The Rangers had just taken the lead as Jonah Heim plated a run with a fielder’s choice. Semien then followed by smacking a two-out, three-run double off of Sammy Long to break the game wide open. It was the only hit of the game in four at-bats for Semien, but it proved to be the difference-maker. On the season, the 33-year-old infielder is now hitting .252/.319/.419 with 11 homers, 43 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 7:50 pm

  • Was available Friday
Manager Aaron Boone said Torres (groin) was available Friday against Atlanta, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Despite being available, Torres never entered the game, leaving his status for Saturday's contest ambiguous. Jahmai Jones or Oswaldo Cabrera would likely enter the lineup if Torres is forced to miss a second consecutive game. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 pm

  • Jahmai Jones triples and scores for Yankees
Jahmai Jones went 1-for-3 with a triple, walk, and run scored Friday against the Braves.

Advice: The Yankees’ offense was held to just one run and three hits in this one as Chris Sale and the Braves’ bullpen shut them down. Jones was the lone bright spot in just his fourth start of the season. It’s unlikely he earns a legitimate role but could get a handful more spot starts as long as Gleyber Torres remains out with a groin injury. Rotoworld Today, 7:27 pm
