      Advice: Munoz has been dealing with a back issue for most of June so far, but he's still seen high-leverage work when available. The right-hander was deployed in the eighth inning Friday against the top of the Rangers' lineup, while Ryne Stanek got the call in the ninth and earned the save. Munoz has picked up three holds and a loss over his last four outings, but it seems this is less about his injury and more about a matchups-based approach to the late innings by manager Scott Servais.       Kopech (2-6) blew a save but earned the win over the Mariners on Thursday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over one inning.

      Advice: Kopech was summoned in the ninth inning to try to protect a one-run Chicago lead but served up a one-out, game-tying solo shot to Julio Rodriguez. To his credit, Kopech bounced back to retire the next two batters and send the game to extra frames, and he was credited with a win as a result of the White Sox pushing across a run in the 10th. Kopech hasn't been very effective in a closing role for Chicago -- he hasn't notched a save since May 15 and is just 5-for-9 in save opportunities this season.       Munoz (back) picked up the loss Thursday as the Mariners fell to the White Sox, allowing an unearned run in the 10th inning.

      Advice: Munoz allowed a walk and a hit before a fielder's choice brought home the automatic runner.       Michael Kopech blew a save but picked up a win while allowing a run over an inning of work against the Mariners on Thursday.

      Advice: Kopech gets the win despite allowing a game-tying homer to Julio Rodriguez with two outs in the ninth. The win stat has zero flaws and anyone who suggests otherwise is providing falsehoods.       Munoz had an MRI and bone scan on his back come back clean, but he received an injection Tuesday to address the lingering soreness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

      Advice: The right-hander last pitched Sunday in Kansas City and has made just two appearances in June while battling through the back issue.       Alvarado gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 12th save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: The southpaw needed 20 pitches (13 strikes) to put away the BoSox, as he bounced back from his second blown save of the season Sunday. Since getting tagged for five earned runs Opening Day, Alvarado has emerged as the Phillies' primary closer -- he's posted a 1.91 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB through 28.1 innings, and his 12 saves are already a new career high.       José Alvarado pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure a save in a 4-1 win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

      Advice: Alvarado did allow a one-out single and advanced the runner with a wild pitch, but he was never in any danger of blowing the lead. He now has 12 saves on the season as the main component of a Phillies closer group.     • Michael Kopech blows three-run lead in eighth
      Michael Kopech gave up three runs in the eighth to take a blown save Monday in the loss to the Mariners.

      Advice: Look, we’re not totally blaming Pedro Grifol for tonight’s loss, but that stuff like this keeps happening to the White Sox hardly seems like a coincidence. Grifol left his starter in to begin the eighth in a 4-0 game tonight, only to pull him immediately after a leadoff homer. Kopech, the White Sox’s primary closer, then came in with no outs in the eighth and struggled in retiring just two of the eight batters he faced. That made it a tie game going into the ninth, and Jordan Leasure, the top fallback to Kopech, wound up surrendering a walkoff grand slam, of all things. Everything is a disaster with the White Sox now, and while Kopech still offers value for teams desperate for saves, it’s hard to argue for him in shallow leagues, especially with the way Grifol is treating him.
