• Cristopher Sánchez shuts down Blue Jays in win
Cristopher Sánchez allowed one run on six hits over seven innings in a win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.

Advice: Sánchez took advantage of a reeling Blue Jays lineup, allowing just two extra-base hits while striking out five and walking two. The changeup did most of the heavy lifting for Cristopher Sánchez, posting a 55 percent whiff rate and 39 percent CSW. The left-hander had a 23 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day, as the sinker didn’t miss many bats, but the slider pounded the zone for strikes. The effort lowers his ERA to 3.22 and he gets another solid matchup against the Mets next week. Rotoworld 14 minutes ago
  • José Berríos coughs up 8 runs in loss to Phillies
José Berríos allowed eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.

Advice: Berríos was able to strike out seven on the day, compared to just two walks, and he allowed just three hard-hit balls all day. However, that led to four extra-base hits and two home runs, so the Phillies made the most of their contact. Berríos was able to post a solid 27 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW on the day and allowed an average exit velocity of 90.4 mph, but he put himself in tough spots by throwing just 42 percent of his pitches in the strike zone. All in all, it feels like more of an off night for Berríos than the sign of any major regression. He now has a 2.85 ERA on the season and will get another tough test against the Orioles next week. • Tylor Megill whiffs seven in rehab start at AAA
Tylor Megill (shoulder) recorded seven strikeouts over four shutout innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse.

Advice: Megill threw 62 pitches (42 strikes) in his third rehab start and is expected to make one additional rehab outing later this week before rejoining New York’s pitching mix. The 28-year-old righty has been on the shelf since early April due to a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago

  • Gallen throws six shutout in win
Zac Gallen threw six shutout innings in a 6-2 win over the Reds, allowing just one hit while striking out six.

Advice: Gallen also walked three batters on the day and started just 11 of the 22 batters he faced with a strike. In fact, Gallen threw pitches in the strike zone just 46 percent of the time on the day; however, when he was able to get a pitch in the zone, the Reds had a really tough time making contact which led Gallen to post a 26 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. It wasn’t his sharpest outing, but he benefited from a Reds team that is having a tough time hitting anybody right now. The effort lowered Gallen’s ERA to 2.84, and he gets a much tougher test against the Orioles this weekend. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

  • Kyle Hendricks makes rehab start at Triple-A
Kyle Hendricks (back) allowed one run over 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Hendricks struck out six, issued three walks and threw 85 pitches (53 strikes) in his latest rehab outing. The soft-tossing 34-year-old righty is working his way back from a lower-back issue that sent him to the injured list last month and should be close to returning to Chicago’s starting rotation mix. • Vierling posts multi-hit game in win Tuesday
Matt Vierling went 2-for-5 with two RBI in the victory over the Guardians on Tuesday.

Advice: Vierling continues to hit as his .282 average and .155 ISO this year would be career-highs. The Tigers sent Parker Meadows to the minors earlier this week, leaving Vierling and Wenceel Perez as the only viable options in centerfield. Vierling has multiple paths to playing time as even with Perez in the lineup he got the start at third base. He should see everyday at-bats until he cools off, making him an option in deeper formats. • CT scan on Ryan Pepiot’s leg comes back negative
A CT scan on Ryan Pepiot’s left leg came back negative for any fractures.

Advice: Pepiot was sent for some additional imaging after taking a 107.5 mph comebacker off his left leg during Sunday’s series finale against the Mets. The positive news is that he appears to have avoided serious injury, but Rays manager Kevin Cash indicated late Tuesday that the 26-year-old righty is likely headed for the injured list. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers since Pepiot has been pitching extremely well this season in his Tampa Bay debut. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Bobby Miller throws another bullpen session
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw another bullpen session earlier this week.

Advice: Miller is expected to get in another throwing session later this week before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has been out since mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation. It sounds like he’ll be ready to return to the Dodgers’ starting rotation before the end of May. • Montas takes tough luck loss in return from IL
Frankie Montas allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Montas was sharp in his return from the IL, striking out seven and walking just one. He allowed just one extra-base hit on the day and his two runs were driven in on a fielder’s choice and single to score a runner who was only on because of an Elly De La Cruz error. Montas was throwing two mph harder on every pitch in his arsenal; however, he was only able to get strikeouts on his splitter and registered a 25 percent CSW. It feels a little bit like Montas will still go as far as his splitter will take him, which makes him a risky proposition in fantasy leagues but one you can likely start against the Giants this weekend.
