    • Inks four-year extension
Sanchez signed a four-year contract extension with the Phillies on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Sanchez has been a key part of Philadelphia's rotation this season, posting a 2.91 ERA and 1.36 WHIP alongside a 66:24 K:BB through 77.1 innings across 14 starts. The left-hander was already under team control through the 2028 campaign, but his extension will buy out his arbitration years and reportedly includes options for 2029 and 2030 that could allow the Phillies to keep him around longer. • Report: Cristopher Sánchez gets four-year extension
The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports the Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sánchez are finalizing a four-year contract extension.

Advice: No financial terms yet with Heyman adding that the long-term agreement buys out Sánchez’s remaining arbitration-eligible years. The 27-year-old southpaw, who boasts a strong 2.91 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 66/24 K/BB ratio across 77 1/3 innings (14 starts) this season, wasn’t arbitration-eligible until 2026. Rotoworld Today, 6:56 am
    • Homers, extends hit streak
Duran went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Duran hit one of five solo home runs the two teams combined to crush in the first three innings before the game settled into a pitching match. His third-inning homer was the second in as many games and extended a hit streak to 11 contests, during which he's 18-for-48 (.375) with seven extra-base hits, five walks, five steals, seven RBI and 12 runs. Duran is proving that his breakout last season was no fluke. Regardless of whichever outlet is tracking WAR in 2024, Duran is among the top 10: Baseball Reference (3.9, T-6th), ESPN (3.9, T-7th) or FanGraphs (3.1, T-9th). Rotowire.com Today, 5:51 am

    • X-rays come back clean
X-rays came back negative on Moreno's thumb following Friday's game against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Advice: Moreno hurt his thumb on a slide early in Friday's contest but remained in the game long enough to tally his third homer of the season. He was ultimately pulled in the sixth inning. Manager Torey Lovullo noted after the contest that Moreno is likely to avoid the injured list, but the team will see how he is feeling Saturday before any final determination is made. • X-Rays return negative for Gabriel Moreno (thumb)
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after Friday’s game that X-rays came back negative for any structural damage on the injured thumb of catcher Gabriel Moreno.

Advice: Lovullo is hopeful that Moreno will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list but noted that he’ll have to wait and see how he’s feeling on Saturday morning to make a full determination. In the meantime, expect Tucker Barnhart to draw a start behind the plate on Saturday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:30 pm

    • Josh Naylor with two hits and two RBI
Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double, single, and two RBI on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Naylor, known for hitting the ball hard, started the Guardians seven-run second inning with an 11 pitch at-bat that wound up as a cheap double and ended the rally with a dribbler that plated two runs. But hey, that’s baseball. Naylor seems to be heating up with hits in nine of his last 11 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:49 pm

    • Strikes out eight in win
Flaherty (5-4) earned the win against the White Sox on Friday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Flaherty threw four scoreless innings before surrendering a solo home run to Tommy Pham in the fifth. He then allowed a hit and a walk with two outs in the sixth before being pulled just shy of a quality start at 98 pitches. The home run was the first earned run Flaherty has allowed since May 23, and the pitch count was encouraging considering he was limited to 73 pitches in his last outing following a back injury. On the season, he owns a 2.92 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 108:13 K:BB over 83.1 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Phillies next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:30 pm

    • Gabriel Moreno diagnosed with sprained left thumb
The Diamondbacks announced that Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game due to a sprained left thumb.

Advice: The severity of the sprain — and how much time (if any) that Moreno may miss — remain up in the air. Tucker Barnhart replaced him in Friday’s contest against the Phillies and would be in line for increased run behind the plate if Moreno is forced to miss any substantial time. • Leaves game with sprained thumb
Moreno exited Friday's game against the Phillies due to a sprained left thumb.

Advice: Tucker Barnhart replaced Moreno behind home plate for the bottom of the sixth inning. Before exiting, Moreno went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Arizona should offer some clarity on the severity of Moreno's injury following Friday's contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:04 pm
