      Advice: Smith got the start at shortstop with Corey Seager (wrist) day-to-day. Seager was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game and, although X-rays came back negative, took a seat for the series finale against the Orioles. The Rangers are off Monday, giving Seager another 24 hours of healing, before a three-game set against the Padres. Once Seager is deemed healthy enough to return to shortstop, Smith will head back to third base, where he will continue to fill in for the injured Josh Jung (wrist).       India went 1-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 2-0 loss to St. Louis.

      Advice: India ripped a third-inning double, the eighth consecutive game with a two-bagger for the second baseman. That's a franchise record and one off the MLB record of nine, set by Toronto's Bo Bichette in 2019. The double also extended a hit streak to 12 games, during which India is batting .489 (22-for-45) with 12 doubles, a home run, six RBI, two steals and 10 additional runs scored.       Hoffman struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save Sunday vs. Miami.

      Advice: Hoffman allowed a runner to reach on an error but was otherwise solid in picking up his sixth save. Jose Alvarado leads the Phillies with 12 saves this season, but Hoffman has gotten the occasional opportunity.       Advice: Vaughn’s home run was his 10th of the year. He hit a solo shot off Kyle Freeland in the fourth inning to bring the White Sox within a run, walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to tie the game and hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning to tie the game. Vaughn is 34-for-106 (.320) with six home runs and 20 RBI over his last 27 games. He’s hitting .244 with a .693 OPS and 39 RBI on the season.

      Waldron (5-7) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: Waldron was plagued by the long ball, as he allowed two homers in a start for the first time this season. He snapped a streak of nine straight starts in which he allowed two runs or fewer.       Jeff Hoffman struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday against the Marlins.

      Advice: Hoffman worked around a throwing error from Trea Turner to secure this save. While possibly the best Phillie reliever, José Alvarado has grabbed most of the saves.     • Matt Waldron pulled in fifth in loss to Red Sox
      Matt Waldron yielded four runs — three earned — in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Waldron didn’t seem to have his best knuckler today, and the Red Sox wound up with eight hard-hit balls against him, including a pair of homers. This snaps a string of six straight quality starts for Waldron. He hadn’t pitched fewer than five innings or allowed more than two runs in nine starts since May 5.       Santana went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Mariners.

      Advice: Santana reached base in three of his first four trips to the plate, starting with a leadoff double in the top of the fourth. It was the veteran first baseman's fourth three-hit performance this month and the fourth multi-hit effort in his last six games.
