      Neris (6-2) took the loss and blew a save against the Giants on Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out one batter over one inning.

      Advice: Neris entered in the top of the ninth frame with Chicago leading by two runs. He got one out before Jorge Soler reached base on catcher's interference. Mike Yastrzemski followed with a walk before Thairo Estrada gave San Francisco the lead with a three-run homer. Though Neris retired the following two batters, the damage had been done, and the Cubs weren't able to mount a comeback in the bottom of the frame. The blown save was the fourth of the season for Neris and his third over his past seven chances.       Freddie Freeman singled and walked five times Monday against the Rockies.

      Advice: Freeman became the first player to walk five times in a game since Matt Chapman on Aug. 12, 2021 and the first to both walk five times and collect a hit since, unbelievably, Rougned Odor on Aug. 2, 2018.       Chisholm went 2-for-2 with a triple, an RBI, a run scored, and three walks in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Chisholm drove in the Marlins' first run with a two-out triple off Sonny Gray in the sixth inning. The Cardinals couldn't retire Chisholm in any of his five plate appearances, and he drew three walks in a game for just the second time in his career. The center fielder extended his modest hitting streak to six games, and he sports a .266/.336/.449 slash line with 10 home runs, 35 RBI, and 13 steals on the year.     • Neris blows save as Cubs lose 7-6 Monday
      Hector Neris allowed three runs, blew the save and took the loss against the Giants on Monday.

      Advice: The Cubs’ lead evaporated quickly in the ninth inning. With one out, Jorge Soler reached on a catcher interference. After Neris issued a walk to Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada hit a three-run home run to give the Giants a 7-6 lead. Neris now has four blown saves on the year including two blown saves in his last three opportunities. Neris’ ERA is now 4.73 on the year. His grip on the closer role loosens with every blown save.       Gray (2-3) allowed nine runs on 11 hits in three-plus innings Monday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Mets.

      Advice: Gray never found his footing Monday and the Mets took advantage. Most of the damage came during a six-run second inning and his night was finished after allowing a two-run shot to Brandon Nimmo in the fourth. Gray had allowed nine earned runs over his previous 50 innings before Monday's brutal outing. His season ERA shot up from 2.17 to 3.31 as a result. Gray's next outing is projected to be in Milwaukee.     • Gray hammered in loss to Mets Monday
      Jon Gray allowed nine runs in three innings and took the loss against the Mets on Sunday.



      Advice: Gray gave up 11 hits, walked none and struck out two. Ouch. Gray’s ERA jumped up from 2.17 to 3.31 with this blow up. He probably didn’t deserve that 2.17 ERA to begin with given his xFIP was 3.52 entering Monday’s start. The 32-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back against the Royals at home this weekend.

      Cruz went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 4-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: With Paul Skenes dealing on the mound, Cruz's two-run single in the first inning ended up being the deciding runs. The 25-year-old now has 10 of his 30 RBI for the season over his past nine games. He's been swinging a hot bat since the calendar turned to June, slashing .295/.325/.525 over his last 11 games.     • Jazz Chisholm Jr. reaches base five times in loss
      Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-2 with an RBI on Monday in the Marlins’ extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Chisholm walked three times in the extra-inning marathon, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances, but it wasn’t enough as Miami lost for the eighth time in their last 10 games since June 7. He also delivered a game-tying RBI triple against Cardinals starter Sonny Gray in the sixth inning.       Advice: O'Neill hit two of Boston's four home runs for his first multi-homer game since April 5. He's up to 14 long balls this season, but just six of those have come since the start of May. The slugging outfielder is slashing .258/.354/.534 with 25 RBI through 206 plate appearances. O'Neill has gone 11-for-30 (.367) with five multi-hit performances in eight games this month.
