      CJ Abrams (shoulder) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets.

      Advice: Abrams is back at shortstop and leading off on Tuesday night at Nationals Park following a three-game absence due to shoulder soreness. The 23-year-old probably could’ve used a few days off since he’s been mired in a mini-slump at the dish recently.       Tyler O’Neill (knee) will start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Worcester.

      Advice: If that game goes well, Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that O’Neill could be activated off the injured list prior to Wednesday’s game against Atlanta. There’s also a chance they could wait one more day if they feel the outfielder needs a little more time, but either way, the activation is close. It’d be a significant return for the Red Sox, especially after Wilyer Abreu was placed on the injured list with his ankle sprain.     • Bregman blasts ninth home run in win Monday
      Alex Bergman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Cardinals on Monday.

      Advice: The home run was Bregman’s ninth of the season. With the Astros trailing by one in the eighth inning, he homered off JoJo Romero to tie the game. Bregman is still hitting just .229 on the season, but his .234 BABIP is significantly lower than his career .280 BABIP.       CJ Abrams, out of the lineup for a third straight game Monday, said his shoulder is still bothering him when he swings but that it’s improving each day.
