  • Brent Rooker delivers in 10th as A’s edge Orioles
    Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 and hit a go-ahead double in the 10th as the A’s edged the Orioles 3-2 on Friday.

    Advice: It seemed like the A’s had botched this one after the automatic runner, who had advanced to third on a groundout to open the top of the 10th, was thrown out in a rundown between third and home for the second out of the inning. Shea Langeliers, who hit the weak grounder resulting in the out, didn’t even try to make it to second while the rundown was ongoing, even though he easily could have. Rooker, though, followed that with a double, and Langeliers scored all of the way from first, thanks in no small part to Colton Cowser missing the cutoff man on the play. Rooker is now batting .200/.290/.527, and even though he’s striking out plenty, he shouldn’t have to worry about sitting much against righties in the near future. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
     
  • Mason Miller perfect in 10th for save
    Mason Miller pitched a perfect 10th with a one-run lead for a save Friday against the Orioles.

    Advice: The automatic runner should score most of the time in these situations, resulting in an undeserved blown save, but not when it’s Miller on the mound. He got two strikeouts and a weak groundout in racking up his seventh save tonight. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
     
  • Corbin Burnes holds A’s to one run in no-decision
    Corbin Burnes wasn’t involved in the decision after allowing one run over six innings Friday against the Orioles.

    Advice: Burnes outdueled Ross Stripling and left with a one-run lead, but the A’s let Stripling off the hook for once by scoring a run in the ninth and then winning the game in 10. Baltimore had been 5-0 with Burnes on the mound. The right-hander has a 2.55 ERA and a 32/8 K/BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
     
  • Craig Kimbrel walks three in blowing save
    Craig Kimbrel took his second blown save after walking three and giving up two hits in one-third of an inning versus the A’s on Friday.

    Advice: Incredibly, he allowed just one run during all this. His lone out came on a play at home plate, and after he exited, Keegan Akin was able to strand the bases loaded and send the game to extras. Kimbrel somehow went his first nine outings without walking a batter, but he’s issued five free passes and hit a batter in his last three appearances. This is just his second blown save and his first to cost the Orioles a game, so he’ll surely keep closing for now. However, if the wildness continues. the Orioles could give him a break and turn to Yennier Cano in the ninth. Cano got four outs for his fifth hold tonight. Rotoworld 10 minutes ago
     
  • Brice Turang steals 13th base in win over Yankees
    Brice Turang went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in a win over the Yankees on Friday in 10 innings.

    Advice: That steal is already the 13th of the season for Turang. The speedy infielder also singled twice to improve his average to .329 on the season with an .855 OPS to go along with it. This is obviously not sustainable, but it’s worth noting that Turang is a former first-round pick that was considered a top prospect not that long ago. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Juan Soto homers and walks in extra-inning loss
    Juan Soto homered and walked in an extra-inning loss Friday to the Brewers.

    Advice: Juan Soto homers and walks a lot. He took Colin Rea deep in the first for his seventh roundtripper of the campaign, and he’s now driven in 23 runs in just 26 games. Simply put, Soto is one of the best hitters in the sport — obvious point is obvious — and there’s plenty of reason to expect these kind of numbers to continue. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Joey Ortiz homers, singles home game winner
    Joey Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to help the Brewers to a 7-6 win over the Yankees on Friday.

    Advice: The homer was the first MLB shot for Ortiz, and it came off Luis Gil in the second inning with a runner on. On top of that honor, the 25-year-old came up clutch with an RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Brewers the victory. Ortiz has held his own in his first year as a member of the Milwaukee infield with a slash of .264/.355/.377, but he’s more of a long-term play than someone fantasy managers should rush to add.   • Colin Rea allows three homers, five runs vs. NYY
    Colin Rea didn’t factor into the decision after giving up five runs in six innings against the Yankees on Friday.

    Advice: Rea gave up three homers in this contest, and one of those blasts was a three-run shot by Trent Grisham. Outside of the roundtrippers the 33-year-old pitched ok, but damage done is an understatement. Rea has pitched well in 2024, but it’s hard to trust him as a viable fantasy option as seen in a start like Friday’s. The Rays are next. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Luis Gil allows five over five in no-decision
    Luis Gil gave up five runs in as many innings of work with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Brewers on Friday.

    Advice: Gil had one of his better days in terms of control with just two walks and 62-of-97 pitches landing in the strike zone. The 25-year-old didn’t have his best command, however, and gave up a pair of homers in a start where he was shaky — at best — throughout the contest.
