    Gordon went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Nationals.

    Advice: The 28-year-old continues to hold down a strong-side platoon role in left field, but Gordon's done little to earn it. The steal was his first of the season, and through 61 plate appearances he's slashing just .211/.246/.404 with three homers, five runs and 12 RBI. The Marlins have the worst record in the NL at 6-21, and it may not be long before struggling veterans with limited upside like Gordon get shoved aside in favor of prospects like Victor Mesa.     Steer went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

    Advice: Steer snapped an 0-for-18 skid in the third inning then stole his sixth base in 26 games and is on pace to surpass the 15 steals he had in 2023. That's the good fantasy news.     Advice: Morel has been scuffling a bit lately, as he's batting just .176 over his last 10 games with no home runs, and he has just three long balls overall this season across 25 contests. Still, the 24-year-old is a legitimate power threat, and even though he hasn't really gotten going in that department yet, he can heat up in a hurry and hit homers in bunches.     Advice: India's been back two games following a bout with an illness and has served as the designated hitter while batting sixth in both. Perhaps using him as a DH is way to acclimate him to playing again after a a four-day absence. The batting order placement, however, represents a change.     Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI during Friday's win over the Yankees.

    Advice: Ortiz was able to finally check off his first MLB home run with a two-run shot off Luis Gil in the second inning, and he delivered an RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Brewers the win in walk-off fashion. The 25-year-old infielder has been struggling at the plate recently, going just 1-for-15 across his last five games prior to Friday's contest, though his above-average defense at third base should allow him to continue starting on a consistent basis.     Advice: Semien's eighth-inning homer broke the tie in a game that had been deadlocked at 1-1 since the second frame, and it ended up being all that was needed to lift Texas over the Reds in Friday's low-scoring affair.     Newman started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-1 loss to Seattle.

    Advice: Newman homered for the second time in the last three games. He's started four straight and six of the last seven, more opportunities than had been expected for him when his contract was selected earlier this month. A combination of Geraldo Perdomo's knee injury and a Blaze Alexander's brief hamstring absence contributed to the spike in play. Alexander returned to action Wednesday and should get the bulk of starts at shortstop until Perdomo is ready, although Newman's defense has been better than Alexander's thus far.   • Marcus Semien homers in eighth to lead Rangers
    Marcus Semien hit his fifth homer Friday as the Rangers bested the Reds 2-1.

    Advice: Semien nearly had two homers, but his 410-foot drive to center in the fifth, which Statcast said would have been gone in 18 parks, was caught at the wall. The actual homer was hit 392 feet and broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth.     Willi Castro doubled twice while going 3-for-4 in a victory Friday over the Angels.
