• Anthony Rizzo powers Yankees past Rays on Friday
Anthony Rizzo clubbed his seventh home run of the season and drove in a pair on Friday night, propelling the Yankees to a 2-0 victory over the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Rizzo broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with an RBI single off of Taj Bradley. He tacked on an insurance run in the ninth with his 392-foot (103.8 mph EV) off of Shawn Armstrong. The 34-year-old slugger finished the evening 2-for-4 and is now slashing .265/.337/.435 with seven long balls and 22 RBI on the season. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Clay Holmes walks tightrope, escapes with save
Clay Holmes walked the tightrope in the ninth inning on Friday night, but escaped with his 12th save of the season after stranding the bases loaded with a two-run lead.

Advice: Holmes — who has yet to allow an earned run through 17 1/3 innings to begin the season — really had to work in this one. He issued a leadoff walk to Yandy Díaz and a one-out walk to Josh Lowe — striking out Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes in-between. He then allowed a two-out single to Austin Shenton that loaded the bases before striking out Jonny DeLuca after a six-pitch battle to end it. He now paces the league with 12 saves and has a 21/3 K/BB ratio to go along with it. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago
  • Clarke Schmidt outduels Taj Bradley in win Friday
Clarke Schmidt outdueled Taj Bradley in Friday evening’s victory over the Rays, scattering five hits over 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler struck out six batters on the evening while walking a pair. The only real threat against him came in the fifth inning where he allowed a two-out single to Richie Palacios and walked Jose Caballero, but he punched out Alex Jackson to quell the uprising. Schmidt generated 14 swings and misses on 87 pitches in the game — five each on his sweeper and cutter — while posting a CSW of 34 percent. He’ll bring a stellar 2.95 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 47/15 K/BB ratio (42 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s showdown against the Twins in Minnesota. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago
  • Yandy Díaz reaches base three times in loss Friday
Yandy Díaz went 2-for-3 and drew a walk as the Rays were shut out by the Yankees on Friday evening in Tampa Bay.

Advice: The Rays’ catalyst did his job, with a leadoff single in the first inning, a leadoff single in the sixth and walk to start the ninth inning — but all three times the Rays were unable to bring him home. On the season, the 32-year-old infielder is now hitting .237/.299/.296 with just one home run and 16 RBI. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Taj Bradley strikes out seven in loss to Yankees
Taj Bradley was outstanding in a tough-luck loss against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering one run on four hits over six stellar innings of work.

Advice: The 23-year-old right-hander racked up seven strikeouts and issued only two walks in his 2024 season debut. The only blemish on his day came in the form of an RBI single off the bat of Anthony Rizzo in the fourth inning. Unfortunately for him, the Rays couldn’t muster a single run of support for him. Bradley got 11 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — at least two on each of his four offerings — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He needs to be rostered and started in all formats for next week’s matchup against the Red Sox in Boston on Wednesday. Rotoworld 30 minutes ago

  • Idle Friday
O'Hoppe isn't in the Angels' lineup Friday versus the Royals.

Advice: O'Hoppe will get a breather Friday after tallying six hits across his last three games. While he rests, Matt Thaiss will fill in as Los Angeles' backstop and bat sixth. Rotowire.com 51 minutes ago
  • Kyle Tucker blasts 12th homer in win over Tigers
Kyle Tucker blasted his league-leading 12th home run on Friday night, helping to power the Astros to a 5-2 victory over the Tigers in the opener of their three-game set in Motown.

Advice: Tucker finally got the Astros on the board in this one with his 409-foot (106.0 mph EV) solo shot off of Casey Mize in the sixth inning. He also drew a pair of walks and scored twice in the contest, finishing the night 1-for-3. On the season, the 27-year-old superstar outfielder is slashing .270/.391/.574 to go with the aforementioned 12 long balls, 26 RBI and six stolen bases. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

  • Josh Hader slams door on Tigers on Friday night
Josh Hader picked up his fifth save of the season on Friday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a three-run advantage against the Tigers.

Advice: After struggling for most of the season, Hader recorded saves on back-to-back nights for the first time all season. The 30-year-old southpaw did issue a two-out walk to Jake Rogers after getting Ryan Vilade on a swinging-third strike, Javier Baez on a fly ball to center, but he battled back to get Andy Ibanez on strikes to end it. He has now converted five of his first six save chances with an impressive 27/8 K/BB ratio over 17 innings on the year — it’s just the 5.29 ERA that looks horribly out of place. • Framber Valdez defeats Tigers to improve to 2-1
Framber Valdez pitched well in Friday night’s victory over the Tigers, allowing only two runs on six hits over seven frames.

Advice: Valdez walked two and punched out four on the night. He surrendered a two-run double to Matt Vierling in the third inning, but kept the Tigers’ off the board the remainder of his night — affording his offense the opportunity to come back and earn him a win, which they finally did in the eighth inning. The 30-year-old southpaw got 10 swings and misses on 103 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 23 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine outing as he carries a 3.64 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 23/9 K/BB ratio (29 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Athletics. Rotoworld 55 minutes ago
