    • Exits starting nine
Schneider is absent from the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees.

Advice: Spencer Horwitz will handle second base and Addison Barger will be in left field for the Blue Jays. Schneider is hitting just .171/.229/.316 in June. Rotowire.com Today, 12:14 pm

    • Takes batting practice Wednesday
Bogaerts (shoulder) took batting practice on the field Wednesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Padres haven't divulged a potential timeline for Bogaerts' return from the 10-day injured list, but his ability to take on-field BP for the first time since suffering a fracture in his left shoulder in late May represents a major milestone in the recovery process. A clearer target date for Bogaerts' return could come into focus in the next few weeks once he resumes running and taking reps in the infield. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:22 am

    • Idle Tuesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Schneider is 4-for-26 across his last seven games (.153) and will get a breather Tuesday. Instead, Addison Barger will fill left field and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:28 pm

    • Hits 10th homer
Schneider went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Schneider has gone 7-for-28 (.250) with three homers over his last eight games. He's usually hit leadoff this season, but he was dropped to sixth in the order Saturday, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa moving up to the top spot and slugging two homers of his own. Schneider's .227 batting average isn't great for a leadoff hitter, though his .319 on-base percentage is a bit more passable. He's added 10 homers, 35 RBI, 32 runs scored, three stolen bases and 15 doubles over 251 plate appearances. While he could ultimately stick lower in the order, Schneider's short-term playing time should be safe after Daulton Varsho left Saturday's contest with back soreness. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:41 pm

    • Engaging in baseball activities
Bogaerts (shoulder) resumed running the bases, taking light grounders and doing one-handed drills in the batting cage this past week, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bogaerts broke his left shoulder while making a diving stop in the infield May 20 and remains on the 10-day IL. The veteran infielder isn't likely to return until July at the earliest, given that he has yet to take regular swings. When he does come back from the IL, Bogaerts indicated that he will adjust his swing to use a two-handed follow-through in order to protect his injured shoulder. He's undergoing regular imaging on the shoulder to determine when he'll be allowed to start ramping up further. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:02 am

    • Taking seat Wednesday
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Schneider will retreat to the bench after he started in each of the past three games while going 2-for-12 with a solo home run, a double and two walks. With Schneider out of the lineup, the Blue Jays will open up a spot in the outfield for Kevin Kiermaier, who will be flanked by Daulton Varsho in left field and George Springer in right field.
