• Yimi Garcia threw a bullpen on Sunday
Yimi García (elbow) threw a bullpen without issue on Sunday.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider said García will do it again Wednesday before the team decides on the next steps. With Jordan Romano shutting down his throwing program again, García could return to a closer’s role for the remainder of the season (or until the trade deadline) if he responds well to the next bullpen session. • Takes first loss Sunday
McFarland (1-1) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, allowing three earned runs on a hit, a hit batsman and a walk over one-third of an inning.

Advice: McFarland's outing was about as messy as his final line implies, with the left-hander immediately working himself into trouble upon entering in the seventh inning with the game knotted at 1-1. McFarland hit Randal Grichuk to open the frame and subsequently yielded a double to Corbin Carroll and intentionally walked Ketel Marte before exiting. Austin Adams would allow all three inherited runners to score, saddling McFarland with the first runs on his ledger since June 6. Despite the stumble, McFarland was impressive throughout most of June, putting together nine consecutive scoreless appearances (6.1 innings) with three holds prior to Sunday. • Rough season debut
Festa (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Astros, coughing up five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk in the 11th inning. He struck out one.

Advice: The former Mariner was called up earlier in the day to give the Mets' beleaguered bullpen a fresh arm, and Festa was immediately pressed into service when the game went into extras. After intentionally walking Yordan Alvarez, he gave up three straight singles before Trey Cabbage ripped a two-out, two-run double to seal the win for Houston. With no day off Monday for New York, Festa is likely to be jettisoned from the 26-man roster in short order to make room for more relief reinforcements. Rotowire.com Today, 8:47 am

  • Falters against Phillies
Chirinos came away with a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Phillies, giving up three runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.1 innings while striking out four.

Advice: The damage against the right-hander could have been worse considering all the traffic he put on the basepaths, but it was still a shaky effort from Chirinos. He's made three starts for the Marlins and has at least pitched into the fifth inning in each outing, helping to take a little pressure off the team's overtaxed bullpen. Chirinos sports a 3.77 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB through 14.1 innings for Miami, and he lines up to make his next trip to the mound at home this weekend against the White Sox. • Rosenthal: Tanner Scott “is a popular name”
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters. Rosenthal mentioned the Yankees, Orioles, and Phillies as contending teams that are expressing interest in adding Scott to their bullpen mix. Rotoworld Today, 8:05 am
  • DL Hall will make one more rehab start
Brewers manager Pat Murphy confirmed that DL Hall (knee) will make “at least one more” rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall threw 60 pitches in three innings on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four and walking one. While he gave up some hard contact, his four-seam fastball averaged 94.7 mph, which is up over two mph from his early starts with the Brewers. The team has worked to get his velocity back up while he was rehabbing his knee, and the work may have paid off. Hall was an intriguing fantasy starter coming into the year and might be in for a solid summer if he can remain healthy. Rotoworld Today, 7:56 am

  • Still shut down from throwing
Wood (shoulder) hasn't resumed a throwing program since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection during the second week of June, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wood will be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list next week, but since he's not yet even playing catch again since being shut down in mid-May with left rotator cuff tendinitis, he could be more than a month away from rejoining the Oakland rotation. Prior to landing on the shelf, Wood went 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 39.1 innings over his nine starts. Rotowire.com Today, 7:36 am

  • Becomes free agent
The Rays released Devenski on Sunday.

Advice: Devenski was previously removed from the Rays' 40-man roster last week, and after clearing waivers, he's now free to sign with another club. The right-handed reliever posted a 6.75 ERA in 19 appearances with Tampa Bay before being designated for assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 5:57 am
  • Fires two shutout innings
Kinley pitched two shutout innings Sunday against the White Sox, allowing zero hits and one walk while striking out one.

Advice: The 33-year-old worked around the ghost runner in both the 11th and 12th innings, allowing just a single baserunner on an intentional walk. Fellow reliever Jalen Beeks earned the win in the 14th inning, but Kinley remains the preferred closer despite owning an ugly 8.27 ERA on the year. Both relievers will be in the mix for saves moving forward as part of a volatile Rockies bullpen. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:15 pm
