• Hammered for eight runs
Hudson (2-10) allowed eight runs on 11 hits and two walks over three-plus innings while taking a loss against the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Hudson kept Washington scoreless for two innings before an ugly five-run third inning. The Nationals piled on four more runs in the fourth, with three of them being charged to Hudson. He's lost three straight starts while posting a 7.20 ERA during that stretch, bumping his season ERA to 5.63 through 76.2 frames. Friday's performance was his shortest outing of the year and the most runs he's allowed in a start. Hudson's next matchup is expected to be on the road against the White Sox. • Dakota Hudson roughed up for eight runs
Dakota Hudson allowed eight runs in just three innings while picking up a loss to the Nationals on Friday.

Advice: Not ideal. Hudson allowed 11 hits in the loss — two of those homers — and he didn’t pick up a single strikeout. The 29-year-old has mostly been effective in 2024, and he’s earned his 2-10 record over the first half of 2024. The only good news for Hudson going forward is his next start comes against the White Sox. Rotoworld 19 minutes ago

  • Works 4.2 innings
Silseth allowed five earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Advice: The surface stats aren't positive for Silseth, but he did build up to 92 total pitches. It was originally expected that he would be activated and slot back into the Angels' rotation Wednesday against the Athletics, though Sisleth has now allowed 14 earned runs across 12.1 frames with Salt Lake. Those results could cause Los Angeles to reassess his role in the short term, as he does have minor-league options remaining. Rotowire.com Today, 7:59 pm

  • Earns ninth save
Sewald earned a save against the Phillies on Friday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

Advice: Tasked with preserving a 5-4 lead in the ninth inning, Sewald needed just 11 pitches to secure his ninth save of the year. Sewald has not allowed a run since his first outing of the season May 7 and is a perfect 9-for-9 in save chances. He now owns a sparkling 0.66 ERA, 0.51 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 13.2 innings in 2024. • Paul Sewald shuts down Phillies for ninth save
Paul Sewald pitched a clean ninth inning on Friday to earn the save.

Advice: There must be something about the city of Philadelphia or Citizens Bank itself that just calms Sewald because he did on Friday what he did four times in the last NLCS: shut the Phillies down. David Dahl did put a ball to the warning track, but it was to no avail. Sewald has not allowed a run in 14 straight appearances this season. Rotoworld Today, 7:20 pm
  • Earns 13th save
Foley struck out one over 1.1 innings to earn the save in a 2-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

Advice: Foley was summoned to protect a 2-1 lead with two outs in the eighth inning and induced a groundout from Andrew Vaughn. He hit Paul DeJong with a pitch in the ninth but ended the game with a double play to earn his 13th save of the season. Foley has not allowed an earned run in seven June appearances and is now 13-for-15 in save chances with a 2.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:9 K:BB over 27 innings in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 6:31 pm

  • Luis Ortiz allows six runs in four innings
Luis Ortiz followed opener Cameron Mlodzinski and got hit hard by the Rays allowing six runs and 10 hits in four innings of work. He struck out three and walked one.

Advice: Ortiz pitched better than his line, which isn’t saying much. The Rays made a habit of squeaking singles through the infield and Jose Lowe burned him for two loud home runs. Even with this disaster, Ortiz’s ERA ticked up to just 3.45. His fastball and sinker each sit 97 MPH, his slider is nasty, and his cutter is coming along. Ortiz remains risky but could prove valuable in the second half. Rotoworld Today, 6:30 pm

  • Ryan Pepiot unravels in fourth inning
Ryan Pepiot allowed two earned runs in 3 1/3 on Friday against the Pirates. He walked four and struck out three.

Advice: Pepiot started strong with three punch outs in his first three innings and held a big lead. He looked to be in complete control until a lead-off walk to Rowdy Tellez in the bottom of the fourth and wouldn’t make it through the inning. His line could’ve been worse as he left the game with the bases loaded and one out, but Colin Poche got out of the jam with a double-play ball. It seemed he didn’t have a feel for his slider in this one as he threw just three. That pitch has been a difference-maker for him this season and it would be a concern if he took it out of his repertoire going forward. Rotoworld Today, 6:29 pm

  • Dodgers activate and option Kyle Hurt on Friday
Dodgers activated RHP Kyle Hurt from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler had already been pitching at Triple-A OKC while on a rehab assignment, but he’ll continue to build up there as he continues his recovery from right shoulder inflammation. In order to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster, Max Muncy was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move on Friday. Rotoworld Today, 6:08 pm
