    • Throws light bullpen Friday
Munoz (back) threw a light bullpen session before Friday's game against the Royals per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, but the reliever did not appear in the contest.

Advice: Divish had noted there was a possibility Munoz would be available for the first time since exiting Tuesday's game against the Athletics, but it was Ryne Stanek who got the ninth-inning call and ultimately failed to protect a 9-7 lead. With Stanek having appeared in three of the last four games and having thrown 39 pitches in the last two nights, Munoz would certainly be in line for any high-leverage work Saturday if he's healthy enough to handle it. • Notches 13th save
Bednar earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over the Twins, allowing one hit while logging a strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Bednar worked around a Byron Buxton one-out single to close out Pittsburgh's shutout victory, earning his 13th save this season. Bednar extended his scoreless inning streak to nine -- he's allowed just five hits and one walk in that span. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 5.47 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 26.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

    • Successful bullpen session
Erceg (forearm) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Thursday and could complete another one Sunday, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: The right-hander has had a productive last few days on the recovery front, as he began playing catch at the beginning of the week and could wrap it up with two bullpen sessions under his belt. Erceg is expected to be evaluated after Sunday's activity, when a determination is likely to be made on whether he'll require a brief rehab assignment before activation. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

    • Returning Sunday
Winn (forearm) will return from the injured list and start Sunday's game against the Rangers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: A right forearm strain has kept Winn sidelined since mid-May, though he made a rehab start in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, giving up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 3.2 innings. The 26-year-old righty allowed 17 earned runs in just 8.1 frames across his last three outings before going on the IL, and it's unclear whether or not he'll be working under any limitations during his first start back. • Spencer Howard starting Saturday vs. Rangers
Spencer Howard will start on Saturday against the Rangers.

Advice: Howard takes the ball on Saturday afternoon against the defending World Series champions after operating in a bulk relief role in his last two outings. He’s looked sharp, striking out seven and allowing only two runs over 8 2/3 innings (two appearances) since May 28. Keaton Winn (forearm) is expected to be activated from the injured list to start Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago
    • Mendoza: Kodai Senga won’t return in first half
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed Saturday that Kodai Senga (shoulder) will not return prior to next month’s All-Star break.

Advice: It became apparent several weeks ago that Senga, who has been on the shelf since spring training due to a right shoulder issue, simply wasn’t making enough progress to return to New York prior to the All-Star break. The 31-year-old righty has been in a bit of a holding pattern working on his throwing mechanics and won’t progress to throwing a bullpen session until next week. Rotoworld Today, 7:44 am

    • Getting start in bullpen day
Mlodzinksi will start Saturday's game against the Twins in what's expected to be a bullpen day for the Pirates, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Mlodzinski will be picking up his second big-league start and his first of the 2024 season while the Pirates look to fill the spot in the rotation that was previously occupied by Quinn Priester (lat), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Over his 20 appearances this season between the Pirates and Triple-A Indianapolis, Mlodzinski hasn't covered more than two innings on any occasions, so manager Derek Shelton is unlikely to ask the right-hander to work more than once through the batting order. Luis Ortiz covered a season-high three innings in his most recent appearance out of the bullpen June 1 in Toronto and could be called upon to serve as a bulk reliever once Mlodzinski exits the game. • Ranger Suárez starting London Series opener
Ranger Suárez (thumb) will start Saturday’s London Series opener against the Mets.

Advice: As expected, Suárez will take the ball across the pond against the division-rival Mets after making it through a couple throwing sessions this week without any issues. The 28-year-old southpaw suffered a left thumb contusion last weekend when he was hit by a comebacker. The 28-year-old southpaw has been phenomenal this season, posting a major league-leading 1.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 79/16 K/BB ratio across 74 innings (12 starts). Rotoworld Today, 7:39 am
    • Ineffective effort Friday
Brieske allowed two runs on three hits across two innings of relief in Friday's 10-0 loss to the Brewers. He walked two and struck out two.

Advice: The game was already essentially over after Detroit starter Reese Olson allowed eight runs over four innings, but Brieske didn't help matters. Even after the rough appearance, the righty still has a solid 2.70 ERA, and he's only been scored upon twice in seven appearances this season. Brieske should stick in a long relief role for the Tigers, giving him limited fantasy appeal at the moment despite his good play. Rotowire.com Today, 7:37 am
